An  explosion occurred at the Chat Chonlathorn Rungsawat Shipyard in Ayutthaya's Bang Sai District on Friday, August 9, at 13:50 PM in Moo 6, Sanam Chai Subdistrict, and resulted in multiple casualties.

Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the explosion, with relevant agencies conducting thorough inspections and investigations at the scene. Initial reports indicate that at the time of the incident, the shipyard was welding steel to build a pontoon and pier. It is believed that sparks from the welding may have reacted with anti-rust paint and thinner vapours, that were being used on the pontoon.

Initial reports confirm that three individuals were injured in the blast and have been transported to the hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, two people, both believed to be make foreign workers, lost their lives in the incident. The identities of the deceased have not yet been confirmed.

Emergency response teams, including local government agencies, nearby organisations, associations, and foundations, swiftly responded to the incident.
