Today I bought a cheap pair of headphones in Mr D.I.Y. as a backup for my main headphones. I've tried them out and they're dreadful so I aim to return them.

I know they have 7-day returns policy but is that just for defective goods or will they let me replace them with a pair that I know are better?

I have returned something that wasn't defective (but useless for me).

But whereas BigC and Lotuss' give back money, MrD only let me find something else (could be a completely unrelated thing) for the same price

That's where you went wrong.

Sometimes I will check Mr D for something. Lotus'is right next door, and quite ofter it is cheaper there than MrD, and you know you can take it back if needed.

I recently ordered a desk lamp from Shopee, it turned out to be the biggest mess imaginable.
So sent it back, which already took some effort, but in turn it was sent back to me.
500 thb wasted, so no more Shopee for me

I bought a pair of cheap ones from them before but a different brand and they were o.k. for backup only.  But these are awful; flimsy and dreadful sound quality. I thought I'd buy them as I like the more prominent controls on the outside.

If I can just replace them with the other brand again I'll be happy. I'll try tomorrow.

I think it varies. I returned a defective t.v. and it was quite painless.

i wouldn't bother returning them, bin them, buy on Lazada

If I don't return them I'll give them to the kids next door. They'll be happy with a freebie.

So it's OK for the kids to have a lousy sound, but not you.

I find Mr DIY useful for some things, cant say I've ever bought anything of enough value that I'd want to return.

How much were they?

Had no problems returning to either Shopee or Lazada.

Just return it and tell them it’s not good. Personally I’d never buy electronics at a shop like mr diy, anything purchased there or at a 20฿ shop is expected to be disposable.

I think some people are misinterpreting why I bought a cheap pair. I have my main headphones of good quality which I use to listen to music. I'm very happy with them but because they're bluetooth I sometimes let the battery run down inadvertenty. As backup all I need is a cheaper pair so I can listen to radio or podcasts or Youtube etc. until they're recharged. They don't need to be high audio quality. I bought a pair of cheaper ones from Mr. D.I.Y before and they were surprisingly decent for the purpose of my intentions.

Obviously if I wanted backup for the high quality headphones I would look elsewhere.

I took a chance on another brand because the functionality looked better but it didn't work out. I should have purchased the other brand I know is better but that's life.

It's only 310 baht so I could bin them, give them away or return them. No problem.

7 day return policy at Mr. DIY. They don't check for defects etc.. Just tell them you want to return.

I've never been given cash back as I just want what I bought. So exchanges for another item are no problem. Of course, must have the "bicet". I think I might have actually exchanged for something cheaper and been given the difference but not sure. I speak Thai OK so I have no problems with small issues like this.

Can exchange even if you don't' like something. Just tell them return na krub.

Man, how much did you pay for them. You seem like you can write forever for that sum.

Just buy a new set somewhere, and maybe pay a little bit more for quality.

Both Shopee and Lazada have accepted quite a few returns from me with no problems, and full refunds including shipping charges.

Most items in Mr. DIY that have moving parts in functionality are, in general terms, are of a quality that matches price. That price/ quality may also be matched elsewhere.

If their "returns" policy stipulates "Another product of equal value" but zero "cash back". sobeit !

Mass consumerism is based on "cash" , "con", and "the dump is that way > !
