Bank account frozen
I found out my BKB account was frozen yesterday while at PTT after I filled up the car. Phone app didn't work & ATM card didn't work either. Luckily I also have home country bank visa cards otherwise I would have been pumping gas at PTT for a week. My banking app was frozen a few months ago & it was resolved in a day after visiting my local BKB branch. Message in phone banking app mentions have to go to branch where account was set up but this is 850km away now as I moved down south. I visited my local branch & they printed out something then told me to call Pattaya branch. I called Pattaya while I was in my local branch & they told me to tell my local branch to call them in Pattaya. Instead of wasting time back & forth I put my local branch on the phone to the Pattaya branch while I was chatting to Pattaya. They had a short chat & my local branch informed me that the local Branch Manager has to resolve the matter but she was not in at the time & would be in tomorrow. They mentioned they will call me tomorrow, however, still no call a day later. Will go visit my local branch again tomorrow for an update. I am on retirement extension visa but the account was originally set up by agent in Pattaya. I will also contact the visa agent well known to many here & ask if they can assist. Maybe I can send them my passport & bank book etc so they can go to the Pattaya branch & verify the documents. No sweat as can transfer money from home country to GF bank account in seconds & my BKB account has minimal funds. -

Finance Thailand Tightens Mobile Banking to Curb Scams
I get that my friend but I think you'd be surprised to learn my age, I'm no youngster. Totally with you by the way in that I prefer to use cash too. I won't even use my card for payments other than to withdraw cash from an ATM. I am with you 100% on precious metals too. You are correct regarding the portability of Gold, basically it isn't and you have hit the nail on the head once again regarding Bitcoin. Unlike Gold you can travel anywhere in the world and take all of your wealth with you with a simple memorized seed phrase in your head or a cold storage hardware wallet in your back pocket. $10,000 - $100,000 - $1m or more whatever. As I said when the fiat banking system does a 10X 2008 all over again and you want to move with your wealth intact to another country, good luck with currency in a bank or hopping onto a plane with your Gold bars. Look into Bitcoin brother really, it's not just about price and number go up, it's way way more important than just that. I'm not gaining anything by saying all of this. My motivation is only to help out my financial enslaved fellow man. Take it or leave it. -

Not many. I have a busted bicep muscle that stops me from rock climbing too. Did it about 10 years ago when I was in my 60's. Doc said not to bother fixing it so long as I don't put too much strain on what's left. -

Economy Sri Lankans Replace Cambodians As Thai Workforce Shifts
More than 30,000 workers from Sri Lanka have already registered and 10,000 will be sent to Thailand in the first stage, Labour Minister Pongkawin Jungrungruangkit told reporters, adding that it would also allow workers from Nepal, Bangladesh, Indonesia, and the Philippines to apply. About 400,000 Cambodians working in Thailand have left the country during the fighting, according to the Cambodian government. Sri Lanka, which has emerged as a key source of replacement labour, saw a record 314,786 citizens leave for overseas employment in 2024, official data showed, with economic hardship pushing many to look for work overseas. The Middle East was the primary destination, and many also sought jobs in South Korea and Japan. Thailand turning to Sri Lankan workers to cope with Cambodian exodus, official says | Reuters Obviously S. Korea , Japan and the Middle East are far more attractive economically for Sri Lankans so I'm not surprised if the numbers arriving in Thailand are only in the tens of thousands. Bangladesh, Nepalese workers may be interested but would the wages in Thailand be much more than in Indonesia or the Philippines? I wouldn't have thought so. 400,000 workers is a lot to replace ( if that is the correct figure) and I wouldn't be surprised once the nationalism on both sides calms down if many want to return. It's very convenient for Cambodians to work in Thailand and much higher wages though AN poster Burma Bill wrote about various work projects starting up in Cambodia. We shall see. A drag through Thai villages nationwide could no doubt come up with a few hundred thousand unemployed youth who would benefit from a healthy lifestyle of full employment and fitness. National Service as it were!
