Members of the Pheu Thai party are meeting today to choose a new candidate for prime minister. The previous prime minister, Srettha Thavisin, was removed from office following a Constitutional Court ruling yesterday.

Reports indicate that some members of the Pheu Thai party are leaning towards nominating the party's leader, Paetongtarn Shinawatra, as the next prime minister. However, this contradicts an earlier agreement among government officials to endorse Chaikasem Nitisiri as the candidate.

The parliament is scheduled to meet on Friday to vote for the new prime minister.

Chaikasem Nitisiri, in an interview this morning, said he is healthy and prepared to step into the role. He stated that he was physically fit to assume the position of prime minister if chosen by the party and elected.

As the former attorney-general and justice minister, Chaikasem mentioned he was waiting for the Pheu Thai party's decision and the coalition partners' agreement before his nomination is put to a vote in the House of Representatives.

Confirming that the party officially nominated him for the upcoming vote, Chaikasem also addressed questions concerning his health. He was treated for a stroke during May's general election but said he has since recovered after three months of rehabilitation. He reaffirmed that his health would not impact his performance as the prime minister.

Until now they can pretend that Paetongtarn is competent.

Put her in charge, and it won't be long before she is exposed.

Somehow, I don't think that is not what the owner of that party wants. But then, not too many things in Thailand make any sense.

Let's see what will happen.
