Emergency personnel from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation responded to a bus and ambulance accident at Din Daeng Island, Victory Monument, Bangkok which left several people injured. At the accident scene, a Route 36 bus was found overturned next to an ambulance. Multiple casualties were on the ground, waiting for help from rescue workers.

Among the injured were Renu Maktong, 68, and her daughter, Kamai Maktong, 33, a Senior Sergeant Major from Bang Pho Police Station. Renu explained that they had initially intended to take the bus when her daughter's chest pain, due to arrhythmia, worsened. As a result, they used an Erawan emergency ambulance service.

The ambulance staff gave Kamai comprehensive care throughout the journey, including an EKG and saline drip. An accident happened suddenly while they were rounding a curve. Renu, sitting at the back, watched in horror as her daughter's stretcher lurched to one side. Despite a metal frame pinning her and a head injury, Renu was primarily concerned about Kamai's safety, fearing the worst after the vehicle flipped over.

After being rescued from the wreckage, Renu begged responders to attend to her daughter first, despite her own broken leg. Back in the hospital, a CT scan revealed Renu's leg fracture, while Kamai had a head injury, chest discomfort, and various aches. Kamai later found out that her mother needed surgery for the fracture and felt terrible for causing her injury.

She said, "I feel very guilty and upset for causing my mother to be hurt. During the accident, I could hardly hear my mother, and now knowing she has a broken leg just makes me feel worse.”

Renu stated that the Erawan Centre would cover their medical expenses and she didn't want to sue anybody, expressing that she only wanted both of them to recover fully. She felt guilty for calling the ambulance that eventually got involved in the accident.

The director of the fourth bus route district, together with other officials and the bus driver Somsak Ngamsompol, visited Renu and Kamai to express sympathy and provide financial assistance. Somsak apologized to both mother and daughter, who forgave him, recognizing it was an unfortunate accident.
