The Russian economy is doing fantastically well at the moment. Well, at least according to the BBC, the International Monetary Fund and the Economist. But I'm sure you have better information, just share it.

Russia to grow faster than all advanced economies says IMF

An influential global body has forecast Russia's economy will grow faster than all of the world's advanced economies, including the US, this year.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) expects Russia to grow 3.2% this year, significantly more than the UK, France and Germany.

Quite sad.

"Oil exports have "held steady" and government spending has "remained high" contributing to growth, the IMF said."

There is the key: government i.e military.

No.

Actually the key is that Russia had a few years of austerity under its belt and had saved. Thus, it was able to spend and ignite the economic motor.  Google "The Economist, Vladimir Putin spends big and sends Russia's economy soaring."

If you really want an in depth analysis of why the Russian economy is soaring now, you can't do better than googling "The Economist Vladimir Putin spends big and sends Russia's economy soaring"

There you will read that the reason Russia's economy is now doing very well is that Russia underwent years of austeriyt when it saved, and therefore Putin was able to spend big now and ignite the motor of the Russian economy.

As of August 2024, Russia's economy is showing a mix of growth and underlying stress. The country's GDP grew by 4.6% in the first half of 2024, supported by robust domestic demand and government spending, particularly on military-related activities. Unemployment is low, at around 2.4%, which suggests a tight labor market.

However, this growth comes with significant challenges. Russia is experiencing high inflation, partly driven by increased consumer spending as people seek to convert savings into real assets like real estate, wary of the financial system's stability. The ongoing war in Ukraine and extensive sanctions have pushed Russia to rely on parallel imports and import substitution, leading to technological regression and inefficiencies in the economy.

Moreover, the Russian economy is at risk of overheating, with mounting inefficiencies and the misallocation of resources exacerbated by the war effort. The financial system is under strain, and while consumer spending is keeping the economy afloat, the long-term sustainability of this growth is questionable due to rising inflation and potential financial instability.

In summary, while Russia's economy is currently growing, it faces significant risks related to inflation, inefficiency, and the potential for future financial instability

Wow!!! 4.6 %!!! So even more than the IMF predicted. That IS impressive.

And low unemployment to boot? Well, I'll be....

What can we do to bring some of this Russian stellar economic performance to the West???

Russia's economic growth is not a result of military spending though.

Any other ideas?

As the report suggests.....cause total panic that the economy is going to crash and cash will be worthless so people buy assets.....this will at least inflate the GDP figures in the short term giving a false impression all is tickety-boo with the economy.

Very true. Of course the West, ie America and it's vassal states, have a vested interest in weakening Russia and dragging out the war as long as possible, regardless of whether the Ukraine can win or not.

If Russia does use a nuclear device, it will again be because of actions by the West forcing Russia to go down this route.

clinton is on record saying exactly that, 'extend the war  to diminish the russias economy', its got f'all to do with saving the Ukrainians. all neocons in the US congress and the UK too.

here is a link from 2022,  'Russia is doomed'  most of the msm had their own versions.  funnily enough nato and the west are not the 'whole world',  far from it.

many countries outside that bubble are neutral to the situation and are trading with Russia despite what US/uk west and AN members claim.

so ignore the fact she was happy to prolong the war. remember those peace talk the UK scuppered...but yeah, putin bad....if you think the US are there to save the Ukranine then you are very naive to put it politely.

It doesn't take a genius to figure it, the Ukraine could never win that war. Not in a million years. The only reason America is sending billions because they know every dollar makes Russia weaker.

But imagine if Russia had not been forced to fight in WWII in place of the US and the UK, had not lost 20 million people, had not been forced to invade Ukraine, how much better would Russia's economy be now?

In most [part due to its  below market sales price of oil eagerly purchased by sanction busting China, India and others.

Russia has intentionally encouraged middle east conflict as it increases the cost of  oil and gas.

Ironic that Cameroni is actively promoting Russian Armageddon on this thread and promoting Trump on multiple threads as well. Smells like a bot to me.

Total rubbish, as usual. Russia's economy is soaring becausing it spent years in austerity and saved. So it can spend now.
