A former school director was fatally shot in a palm oil plantation, allegedly by a man angry over a land sale. Police in Krabi’s Khlong Thom district received a report of the incident yesterday.

Van Caught Smuggling Cambodians Across Border in Chanthaburi

On Wednesday, August 14, a van carrying illegal immigrants was stopped by immigration officers in Chanthaburi. These officers, led by Veerayos Karunyathorn, the Deputy Commander of Immigration Division 2, and Sawat Chotiranaphas, the Deputy Commander of Chanthaburi Immigration, were carrying out regular checks on highways and roads to limit illegal immigration activities.

Delays loom for Thai-Chinese high-speed railway project

In a major transport initiative between Thailand and China, the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) reported that the first phase of the high-speed railway linking Bangkok to Nakhon Ratchasima is around 71% complete. However, it’s trailing behind its scheduled opening in 2028 by around 36%.

Illegal Chinese Goods Seized in Kalasin Convoy

Three trucks carrying illegal imports from China worth 20 million baht were intercepted by the police. More than 800 uncertified items were seized. The drivers, who said they were just hired to deliver the goods, were questioned.

NHRC Aims to Protect Rawai Beach Land for "Sea Gypsies"

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) is raising concerns about a hotel project planned for Phuket's Rawai Beach, suggesting it could negatively affect the indigenous Moken community. Often known as "sea gypsies", the Moken people have lived on this land for generations, with their claim predating that of a property company.
