A Thai senator has formally requested a parliamentary investigation into the actions of a veteran politician and former army chief who struck out at a television reporter after she asked him a question.


79 year old Prawit Wong-suwon, a lawmaker and former deputy premier struck out at the female reporter on Friday while surrounded by journalists, video footage was widely shared on social media.


Thailand and Malaysia plan to revive the direct train service between  Bangkok and Butterworth, and extend a Malaysian excursion train now running to Hat Yai to include Surat Thani. A trest run is planned  and would be followed by a regular service for  6 months.


Thailand State railways cancelled its daily service to Butterworth in 2016, 


Since then Passengers needed to change trains at the border to reach Butterworth and other destinations in Malaysia. 


Locally:  Huahin Hospital will receive a new ambulance at a handing over ceremony today, the fully kitted out ambulance cost 2.5 million baht which was raised through rotary clubs across the country, and managed through the local Rotary club of Royal Huahin.

Vietnam:  Thousands of children in the north will struggle to return to school after flash floods and landslides damaged homes, destroyed crops and cut off several communities.


some 29,000 houses have been damaged and about 1.3 million people have been affected, according to Save the Children, who said floods had left the countryside strewn with broken bridges and heavily damaged roads.
