Report Phuket Leads the Charge Towards Greener Urban Mobility
Pictures courtesy of The Phuket News Phuket is making strides in sustainable urban mobility with the launch of the City Lab initiative, a collaboration between Thailand and Germany focused on transforming transport through electric vehicles (EVs). Unveiled at Phuket Provincial Hall on June 17, the project is a key aspect of the Thai-German partnership on energy, transport, and climate change. Chaired by Phuket Governor Sophon Suwannarat, the event featured significant figures from the Office of Transport and Traffic Policy and Planning (OTP), the German development agency GIZ, the Thai Electric Vehicle Association (EVAT), and King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi. The City Lab aims to innovate EV technology and tackle urban transport challenges in Phuket, aligning with Thailand’s climate goals. Governor Sophon emphasised that the initiative is a crucial step in Phuket’s sustainability journey, addressing local transport issues while supporting national environmental objectives. The meeting reviewed past activities, such as fieldwork and workshops, setting the stage for future progress. A primary goal is to engage local stakeholders, including government, academia, and the public, in developing scalable business models that promote EV use and reduce the carbon footprint. By focusing on cleaner and more efficient transport, the initiative seeks to enhance Phuket’s transport network and improve residents' quality of life. The project is designed to involve the community in creating sustainable transport solutions, ensuring broad participation and impact. This ambitious initiative is poised to serve as a model for provinces across Thailand, demonstrating the potential of EVs in reshaping urban mobility and contributing to global sustainability efforts. Report Woman Miraculously Survives Fall from Four-Storey Building in Ayutthaya
Perhaps because they are taller than Thais and the railings are below their "center of gravity" and they kind of expect high safety standards which are often not met in Thailand so he railing might be poorly secured or rusted to bits they lean on it thinking its safe and whoooops.
