What? Isn't a vehicle that comes apart in an accident, destroys the cab and kills the driver not dangerous enough for you!

Maybe you'd  have been more convinced if the 'tin shed' had smashed into a fully laden school and killed a few kids as well!

What sort of vehicle would survive a high speed head on collision with bus ?  ,  There would be little chance of somebody driving an armoured car  surviving such an accident .

Its not these vehicles that are inherently dangerous, but the same cannot be said for many of the people who drive them.

If you can't see their mirrors, then they can't see you. Simple.

Whilst what you say is true ,Its certainly  not that simple   Just because they have mirrors, and even if  you can see their mirrors, it  does not necessarily mean that  they  are actually using them ,  So its unwise to assume that they have seen you.      Sometimes you can't see their mirrors because they don't actually  have any

A properly constructed panel van would not shed its entire rear end into the cab and beyond. We don't even know if it was a high speed crash. There seemed to be very little damage to the bus.

It was the shoddily built construction of the cargo container and possibly a ton or so of ice that was loaded into it that resulted in the damage that we can see and the death of the driver.

One often sees pickup trucks with a tin shed fitted over the cargo bed.  This seems to me to be dangerous.  Is it actually legal in Thailand?

Doesn´t matter what they put on top of the cars here. The danger in traffic has reached beyond the highest danger level. Just let it be, as it makes no difference. 😉

As has been discussed many times on this forum over the years,  the legality of many things in Thailand is a very subjective issue.

You have to see there face in the mirror to know they see you.

So millions of these vehicles on the road and you come up with one maybe, and you want to double the cost of logistics.

And if it were a "...properly constructed panel van..." the load would have still come forward.

Little damage to the bus, good news that.

I loathe these things with a passion. You cannot see around them on the highway when they are flying low.

One cannot see around buses or heavy goods trucks, so what is the problem?

How are they dangerous?

It’s not a roll cage, people being carried inside of it , plus some have that shiny exterior which can be blinding on the road

you guys are funny ...  how long you been here?  Everything is dangerous so go back home... sidecars are illegal, yet you pay when that smash into you, now work it out yourself...

cops don't wear helmets.. list goes on and on.. get with the program that does not exist..

Yes, but they really don't need to see you...

you mean they really don't care...

all most of them think about is.. If we overload the vehicle to 3 times it's capacity  so the axels bottom out on bumps and we drive a min of 120 kph while weaving in and out of traffic  ... cutting off cars   ( don't forget the clouds of black smoke ) we might get to our destination 2 minutes sooner

how the cargo box/fridge attaches aside, pickup truck usually fares better in a crash than vans. and the  vans has only been semi-bonneted for the current generation, previously the engine was under the seats mean it fares much worse in a crash
