Woman Hospitalised After Drink from Tourist Turns Deadly
File photo for reference only A Thai woman faced a terrifying ordeal after a night out in Pattaya's bustling nightlife district when a drink from a Chinese tourist led to severe health complications. While celebrating her sibling's birthday on Walking Street, the woman was offered an orange juice by the man, who communicated his interest through Google Translate. Despite politely declining his advances due to her boyfriend's presence elsewhere, she accepted the beverage, unaware of its risks. Hours later, upon returning to her room, she experienced alarming symptoms, including a rapid heartbeat and persistent vomiting, prompting an urgent trip to the hospital. Initial treatment at a government facility proved insufficient, leading her to seek care at a private hospital, where tests confirmed the presence of an unknown drug in her system. The incident starkly highlights the dangers inherent in accepting drinks from strangers, serving as a warning to others navigating similar environments. It also begs the question of how nightlife venues can better protect their customers. Enhanced staff training and stringent safety regulations are essential to preventing such frightening experiences in the future. -- 2024-12-19 -

How Has Thailand’s New Income Tax Law Affected Your Spending Habits?
Not yet…but it would behoove the Thai government to get off their ass and clarify things regarding their “penny wise, pound foolish” taxation scheme. -

Money transfer for RE purchase
When transferring money for a real estate purchase, using a method that feels safe and gives you peace of mind is essential. I’ve used wire transfers for big purchases, and it’s always worked out fine. Wire transfers are usually fast and secure, but you’ll want to double-check the fees beforehand, as they can vary depending on where you’re sending the money. If you’re looking for an easier way to manage your transfers, there are also options like ownersclubfx.com . They simplify international money transfers, and I’ve heard good things about their service. Just make sure you know the exchange rates and any extra costs that might come up. Also, don’t forget to confirm everything with the seller before making the transfer to avoid surprises. -

Living the Thai life: Kingdom rolls out red carpet for big spenders
This thread is about big spenders. Not the type who queue up for hours doing visa runs under pink umbrellas in the hot sun at the Thai Embassy in Laos. Step down! -

How Has Thailand’s New Income Tax Law Affected Your Spending Habits?
I believe that Thailand thinks that Vietnam is still below them and don’t realize how far they have come in the last 10 years. Da Nang has an excellent food scene….much better than Hanoi had 10 years ago. And they are also constructing apartments that are equal to those on offer in Thailand. Just in the neighborhood surrounding me (Khue Mai) there are at least 8 buildings that are nearing completion. It’s all much cheaper too. The international hospital (Vinmec) is also quite nice and less expensive than the hospitals in Thailand.
