Thai gov. to tax (remitted) income from abroad for tax residents starting 2024 - Part II
That's my point, in the UK HMRC has clear guidelines that if you use a Foreign Credit Card to purchase Goods or Services in the UK and then pay the resulting bill using money from a Foreign Bank Account you are remitting money into the UK. Very clear & if we're honest with ourselves, it makes perfect sense. -

Prime Minister Starmer Defends Taking Donations Amid Criticism
They were imprisoned for hurty words. They confessed to making hurty word posts. It doesn't matter what mental gymnastics you put yourself through it is undeniable that they typed some hurty words into facebook and were jailed for it. I think where you are getting yourself turned in knots is that you are expecting to see 'hurty words' in the legislation as though this is a formal term rather than just a colloquialism for Section 127 of the Communications act. -

Latest developments and discussion of recent events in the Ukraine War
If true about the Iskanders et al then Russia would be well advised to store high value items next to nuclear facilities , reactors or missile sites. One does idly wonder if this was indeed a multiple drone strike or some more sophisticated missile either a home made Ukrainian or a 'hacked' western one - where western minders conveniently look the other way. We will probably never know for sure. But a huge hit for sure and a major Ukrainian success. -

Thai Funeral Practice of Lighting Cigarettes Sparks Online Debate
In a remarkable burst of online activity, a Thai man's query about an unusual funeral custom has ignited an extensive debate on social media. The man, posting anonymously on the Facebook page Knowledge Around, wondered about the significance of lighting cigarettes instead of incense sticks at funerals. The question posed on Monday, September 16, quickly went viral, attracting a surge of reactions from intrigued netizens. Most responses pointed towards a traditional belief: lighting cigarettes at funerals is often reserved for deceased smokers as a mark of respect, symbolising a final gesture to accompany them to the afterlife. One commenter noted, "Thailand has a mixed culture. Lighting cigarettes at funerals where the deceased was a smoker is akin to pouring alcohol on graves in Japanese or Western traditions." Another participant added, "It’s a way to honour the deceased in a manner that aligns with their personal beliefs. It’s fine as long as it doesn’t disturb others or violate social norms." Offering an international perspective, one individual remarked, "In Vietnam, they light cigarettes as offerings at deity statues. Both incense and cigarettes were placed together." While most discussions emphasised cultural significance, an intriguing comment suggested a futuristic angle: “Lighting cigarettes at funerals usually relates to specific cultural traditions, serving as a symbolic farewell tied to the deceased’s lifestyle." Amidst this heated discussion, the page also delved into other intriguing topics. A deep dive into funeral expenses in northeastern Thailand revealed that costs could soar up to 300,000 baht, with significant sums allocated to monks and funeral workers. Additionally, a nurse's warning against bringing bells to hospitals, based on a harrowing experience, highlighted prevalent superstitious beliefs in medical settings. These diverse discussions underscore Thailand's evolving cultural landscape, blending centuries-old traditions with contemporary influences. From unique funeral customs to superstitions in hospitals, these stories reflect the rich tapestry of Thai cultural expressions, offering a fascinating glimpse into the nation's complex societal norms. Thai gov. to tax (remitted) income from abroad for tax residents starting 2024 - Part II
I did post some observations in the Tax guide thread on what CRS doesn't really specify in this regard but it was not really followed up. Based on what I understood (which is probably completely wrong) I don't see it being tracked in any transactional way by CRS specifically. -

Thai police shut down 21 villas on Koh Samui, foreigners evicted
Makes you wonder how these kind of projects get built without anyone noticing anything. Like the city officials or park officials or the local poo yai baan. Some one must have seen the clearing the land, building the roads, bringing in power poles and water lines, building forty-plus homes. And then openly advertising them. It doesn't say how long ago they were built but you can bet they didn't just finish yesterday. Yet apparently no one noticed.- 1

Honest Question: How is Trump a 'threat to Democracy'?
Not the first time candidates have been shot at, ever killed, along with presidents themselves, or bystanders. RFK, G. Wallace come to mind. JFK killed, and then Reagan shot. That's just my lifetime. It's politics ... same worldwide 7 shot (15%), 4 killed (8.6%), out of 46.
