Does anyone here miss serious writing? Instead of simple posting on the Farang Pub?

Dear Folks,

I don't know about you, but I do miss my days of serious writing, and I mean TIGHT writing.

I say I miss those days but...

Tight writing is hard work, and I am now too old for it, I think.

Are you now too old, too....?

One thing amazes me is that Philip Roth was able, at the ripe old age of 83, to write his last novel....NEMESIS...a book I think is spectacular, and one that most resonates with me.

And then, you gots your Herman Wouk, who was still writing serious stuff at age.....100....but....I think that the Sailor and Fiddler was nothing compared to Roth's last book.

I think most of you may not have read my last novel, but I admit it was not nearly as good as any of Roth's, a writer who was unfairly passed over for the Nobel.

Anyway....the question of this Topic is:

a.  Do you miss your days of serious writing...TIGHT writing, but not writing when tight?

b.  At your advanced age....are you still UP to the challenge of writing HARD?

Or, now knowing that you might be over the hill.....

And no longer able to write as well as you might wish....

Do you think....being unable to write as well as you once did.....

Should you, like Hemingway....

Take to the Shotgun, loaded with BirdShot?

Someday, before I get much older....

I plan to return to my serious writing.

And, I just wonder....

Do you, too, hold out this hope that you will, someday soon, return to your serious writing.....rather than....

Continue to post simple comments on TV's Farang Pub?

Just an idle question, but also a question of some consequence and import, .... maybe.....

Best regards,

Gamma

No

Roth wrote the book:  NEMESIS

And, your name is Nemises.

Do you think there might be some connection/correlation here?

Are you kidding me? Please don't big yourself up and think you are a serious writer. Most come here for fun.

I am mostly detached, disinterested, incurious, and indifferent about serious or tight writing. Most of all, I am unconcerned.

I'll let everyone in on a little secret. If I think about the absolute worst writer on all of AN then only one member comes to mind.

Ok, Ok, I'll give you a little hint. The person is often referred to by a two letter initials.

And the initials start with G and end with G and, no, his name isn't George.

P.S. I didn't read a single word of the OP.

Do you mean “Miss serious writing”, or “Miss reading serious writing”?  There’s few amongst our current cohort who could be accused of ever serious-writing, and I think there are few amongst us who appreciate such, and fewer if any that deserve it.

I have learned, over the years, that my readership on the TV Farang Pub do appreciate a bit of ambiguity, from time to time, whenever I am able to offer it up.

And, as you point out, in any given sentence or utterance, three meanings are better than just two, or one.
