Residence certificate with Tourist Visa?

Recommended Posts

I can confirm that you CAN get a Certificate of Residence from Chaengwattana on any entry stamp WITH a TM30 <- they use that address to mail the COR to you. There is no negotiation on needing it. You need one or you can't get a COR

You have copies of the data page of your passport, your visa/entry stamp, your TM30, fill out the application form, pay 200 baht get a receipt and a Thai Post EMS tracking number

They mail the certificate to you in about 5 days.. Just was with someone who applied this Monday from a visa exempt 60 day entry (actually a 30 day extension on that entry) and they got the certificate today actually 🙂

In Bangkok now it's by mail apparently, in another city it could be handed in a few minutes and yet another city it could be given over the counter after 24 hours. Some places will make you pay, other places will give it free. But go back to the city where it was free last time and now it will be charged.

Welcome to Thailand where nothing is consistent and constant.

Best thing is to go to the local office and check out for yourself as things can change overnight as always.

I obtained my CoR at CW today.  As Tod says above, no need for 90 Day Report.  I got a Q number, waited 15 minutes to get called and was processed in 5 minutes.

It would be great if you could outline which documents you had to give them. Just a TM30 and the usual passport copies, or anything else? Like a rental contract etc.?

I'm also interested as seems TM47 no longer required at CW.

I obtained my first ever TM47 using my rental lease.

Then provided that to person handling the COR .

Nothing else.

Most recent COR at CW I had basic pages of pp and rental contract etc however all she wanted was the TM47 that she just processed.

Did them at same time same io.

Sorry, I should elaborate on documentation.

I provided the completed application form, TM30 print out, and copy of passport biodata page, visa page (I have a Thai Elite Visa, others may not have a visa) and passport page showing latest entry stamp.  All pages signed by me in blue ink as requested by the IO.  Handed over 200 ฿ to IO and was given a Thai Post reference number and told to expect CoR in post in one week.  That was it!!!

Was there an option to ask for multiple CoR pages? It looks like you get 1 for a license and 1 for registering a vehicle, but what if I want 3 or 4 to open bank, register bike, get bike DL, etc

an update to my own question and some info for others:

Here is the updated CoR application as of today. They added a box so you can ask for as many CoR pages as you need. The requirements are also stapled to the front.

Like Tod said, all thats required is:

- copy of passport photo/data page

- copy of passport stamp

- copy of tm30 (MUST BE 10+ DAYS)

they said my 1 night tm30 wasn’t enough, I had to come back with a 10+ day tm30.

also, its 200b per CoR you want. I got 4, two for motorbike + car license, one for motorbike ownership and one for bank account. So 800b.

another thing, I’m on a DTV so I brought a copy of dtv visa and they took that, but not sure if its required.

If you are getting car and bike licience the Transport office will accept one COR and a photocopy..

Was that a TM30 from a hotel that you booked for one night?

With my condo TM30s, I always leave the optional checkout date empty, which translates to "0 nights" on the printout.

Sounds reasonable that the TM30 cannot be for too short (if it isn't open-ended by leaving the checkout date empty), as they'll send you a letter to that address.
