Kamala Harris' Media Absence Defended: Adviser Cites Busy Schedule

In the midst of growing criticism over Vice President Kamala Harris' limited media presence, one of her top advisers, former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, defended the vice president's lack of interviews by highlighting her demanding schedule. Harris, 59, is on track to grant the fewest interviews of any major party's presidential nominee, having done just six sit-down interviews since President Joe Biden formally stepped down from his re-election bid on July 21.

During a recent appearance on CNN’s "The Lead with Jake Tapper," Bottoms suggested that Harris’ packed agenda is the reason behind her scarce media appearances. “She’s a very busy person,” Bottoms explained. “She’s the vice president as well as a candidate.” While many have criticized Harris for her reluctance to engage with the press, Bottoms pointed to the fact that Harris continues to voice her stance on key issues in public forums, even if not in the traditional interview format.

“We heard her today talk about her views on these policies,” Bottoms continued. “It may not be in the format that the media would like. It may not be that she’s sitting down doing a one-on-one interview, but we heard her today in Georgia talk about her stance on reproductive freedom.”

Harris’ first formal interview since being named the Democratic Party’s candidate for president took place nearly a month after Biden announced he was stepping aside for her. On August 29, Harris sat down with CNN’s Dana Bash, with her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, by her side. Aside from this interview, Harris has made a few other appearances, including an interview with Philadelphia's ABC station, an interview with Spanish-language radio host Chiquibaby, and a panel at the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) gathering.

Despite these appearances, the criticism persists. Harris’ media approach has drawn comparisons to that of former President Donald Trump, who, at 78, has conducted at least three times as many interviews in the same period, including a one-hour interview with Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk on X Spaces. Meanwhile, Ohio Senator JD Vance, the Republican vice-presidential nominee, has become a familiar face on Sunday morning talk shows, maintaining a regular presence on network public affairs programs.

As Harris continues her campaign alongside Governor Walz, it remains to be seen whether her media strategy will evolve or whether the defense offered by Bottoms — that Harris is simply too busy — will hold in the face of further scrutiny.

Haha... Unbelievable they use her position as VP as reasons to hide from the public. She never did anything as VP before the elections. Let's hope she is back in the White house learning how to be a politician since there is a chance she can win and will need a quick course on speaking to delegates and press and making firm decisions and following through with the jobs she is required to do rather than her previous performances as VP doing none of the above.

Huh????🤔

It is a New York Post article.   The same guy that owns FOX, owns them. FOX of course is not even a real news entity, but by legal definition in the US, a media entity that gives 'opinions about the news'. They do not even have to hold to the standards of the MSM, it is that bad.

The definition of a propaganda media entity/site. A bloody right wing propaganda site. Great marketing move on their part BTW, to call everyone else sheeple, if what you are really doing is herding sheep.

It's working, what's the problem with it? If that's what the electorate wants, so be it.

Well this member of the electorate wants her to answer some questions.

The "Democrats", the party who "select" the nominee and then hide her in the basement in the hope that the electorate don't figure out how inept she is before the vote.

Sounds pretty Democratic to me.

Sounds like you don't realise she's out in the open campaigning on a daily basis. Just not in the traditional way, which is irritating the media and confusing the opposition who don't know how to react.

It seems you’ve been asleep too.

Biden is not nor never was the Democratic Candidate for the 2024 election.

Huh?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Withdrawal_of_Joe_Biden_from_the_2024_United_States_presidential_election

Biden, a Democrat, had announced that he would run for re-election in the 2024 presidential election on April 25, 2023, with Harris again as his running mate.[1] Biden had the uncontested support of all major donors in Democratic Party politics and went on to win an overwhelming majority of delegates in the 2024 Democratic Party presidential primaries. He was already considered the presumptive nominee before the primaries were over.

And the Democrats adopt their candidate at ‘The Democratic Party National Conference’.

Where they adopted Harris as the Democratic Party Candidate for the 2024 Presidential Election.

funny because MSN has an article about this also saying she is hiding from the public using a strategy of some prince i think.

Saying by hiding from the press she will be able to win just on those who hate Trump. Sounds familiar huh. So many here validating Harris just because they hate Trump.

She is hiding from the public so well she is actually meeting them face to face instead of in a studio talking to a few carefully selected media talking heads as Trump is doing, whilst he is babbling away endlessly about Haitians in Springfield eating cats, dogs and other pets and talking about the election being rigged against him by the Democrats and the media. Meanwhile Vance is faithfully following in his masters footsteps by telling lies every day.
