Community Terrifying Discovery as Cobra Found in Hotel Bathroom in Krabi
Picture courtesy of Kaoded. Tourists and hotel staff in Krabi were left horrified after a cobra measuring over three metres in length and weighing seven kilograms was discovered hiding in a communal bathroom at a hotel in the popular Ao Nang area. The startling encounter occurred on the evening of 1 May, when a hotel employee noticed something slithering into the bathroom. Upon closer inspection, they were shocked to find the giant venomous snake partially coiled behind a door. Alarmed guests raised the alert, prompting an urgent call for assistance. Responding to the call was local reptile expert “Bang Cha,” renowned for his ability to catch venomous snakes bare-handed. On arrival, he carefully used a hook to coax the cobra out from its hiding place. However, the snake, clearly agitated, reared its head and spread its hood in a classic defensive posture before striking aggressively. Bang Cha narrowly avoided the venomous bite. The snake then fled into an adjacent cubicle, climbing onto a toilet and continuing to exhibit aggressive behaviour. In a dramatic moment, Bang Cha decided to confront the cobra directly. With precision and calm, he managed to grab the snake by the head with his bare hands and safely secured it in a sack for relocation back into the wild. Hotel staff later recounted their fear, with one saying, “I was just walking past the bathroom when I saw something slither inside. I looked again and couldn’t believe it, it was a massive king cobra. We called Bang Cha immediately.” The incident sent shockwaves through the hotel, with both staff and guests visibly shaken. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the snake was successfully removed without harm. This is the latest in a series of snake sightings in Krabi province, where both tourists and locals are urged to remain vigilant, particularly during the rainy season when snakes are more active.
