And just what do I think? An IO would detect one? I think an AI scanner would for sure detect a forgery. Better than the human eye. Anyway, what the hell do I know? Or anyone else?

IO has more chance yes

So not only a smart phone, but you need a printer too, or go elsewhere to print it.

Who's stoopid idea was it in the first place, automatic gates can just scan a passport, so what is the need or use of it.

My understanding is the ETA QR code would allow you to use the e-gates, which would then scan your passport. There has been no mention of where the QR code would be scanned.

People should wait for the detail rather than speculating. There have been people posting about already using the e-gates, but on exit , not entry.

But he's got to be looking for it, and know what he's looking for, on 150 different passports. AI could do that in a split second. An IO? Can't even find the last stamped page.

Many places now you have to scan yourself into departures from the boarding card and that can be done by phone, desk boarding card or one you have printed out.

QR codes are just more sophisticated bar codes and scanning will become the norm in due course.

See? This is why it is a waste of time to take anything the Thai government says at face value. Are they even capable of figuring anything out before making grand sweeping gestures and announcements?

It's called planning, man!

Planning????? 😆

How do the automatic immigration gates currently used in Thailand work? I don't think they have a QR reader, because passports have no QR codes.
