Is Thailand Value for money

New Zealand has some of the best beef on earth. Grass fed, and in high demand as an export. You do need to read more and talk less.

So your suggestion is that @thaibeachlovers should move from hotdogs, to buying very expensive grass-fed beef? Have I got that right?

Is Thailand Value for money?

If anyone decide to settle down in a foreign country, for the sole purpose of finding it value for money, I think that person is in for a huge unpleasant surprise.

Settling down in a foreign country, there is more than the monitory side - to put it simply, compatibility.

Many people think of the cheaper side and forget all other factors and then starts the endless whining and blaming everyone and everything around.

Ehh yeah right, well you must live in some bubble then because I can assure you that the main factor was that it gives more value for money. Which became much less already than it was and is at that thin line. That is also the only reason people accept all the nonsense that comes with it.

Thailand would otherwise be a fun place to visit for holidays, nothing much more. That's actually already the reality of today too.

The more you talk, the more I can see you're a very disturbed individual. It appears that you're either drunk or plain dense, or perhaps both. Again, for at least the 4th time. He said he likes mostly junk food. I recommended some food because he also said food to him isn't that tasty unless it has sugar. Again, it's up to him to decide if he wants to try other things. people get into a routine of what they eat because of taste and convenience. most do not follow good healthy lifestyles. This is proven daily all over the world in the obesity rate and the amount of diseases people have, many of those from a poor diet and lack of exercise. My family had diabetes in it, including my son, who's 34, and my brother, who died from a heart attack brought on by diabetes. My aunt had it, along with an uncle. This is one reason I chose to eat healthy. My blood sugar is usually 88, which is low. I'm trying to avoid as many life altering diseases as possible, knowing full well genetics plays a role. I don't write nonsense. You talk nonsense because you aren't getting it.

Does "Texas BBQ' have sugar? It seems it does in the sauce. So he going to get the sugar anyway, but he doesn't want it, because he is pre-diabetic. So Texas BBQ without the BBQ sauce and fatty burgers. Seems stupid advice overall. Why not make sensible suggestions in the first place?

No, I told you in my reply that the 20% referred to the fat content of the raw product. Here:

It's a cheese burger, we need to add the figures for cheese, which is 9g. So the raw meat has 20% fat, but I accepted your figure of 14g cooked. That makes 23g for patty and cheese alone.

The mistake I made was writing 'cheese burger meat' instead of 'minced meat'. Corrected that, but it was still too much for you. Hopefully your brain has adjusted.

I perfectly understood you meant minced meat. Why do you think I checked the fat values for a hamburger? It was obvious.

The point is your figure for the meat did not check out. It was wrong. The correct figure was given, you accepted it, I accepted you want to add a slice of cheese then you get to 20%. No matter, this is still far, far below the reccomended intake for fat that you should eat even on a low calorie diet. Why are you even arguing about this? It's totally pointless.

That's my point. I have been making healthy suggestions. You don't have to load food with sauces. They are there to add al ittle flavor, not to overwhelm. Fatty burgers taste good, but so do lean burgers, if the beef is good quality. When I go home to Texas, and move there eventually, I eat BBQ without sauce. Just the meat and onions, along with some beans. Sauce isn't necessary. The same with steak. A1 is excellent steak sauce, but I only use it once in awhile. I prefer a steak grilled, plain.

Which became much less already than it was and is at that thin line - with the prices skyrocketing globally, what else can  one expect?

Now I feel like a burger for lunch. You guys are to blame for this.

If I wasn't at home, I would do the same. Been awhile since I drove to Sisaket to have one, but I will surely have some burgers, lasagne, Thanksgiving dinner, BBQ and Mexican food when I go to Texas next month.

Make sure it has 23 g of fat, or you will die.

Just because the fact that prices rise for good reasons with certain industries, services and products, in certain countries, does not mean it is automatically true or justified everywhere. This also applies to Thailand, the changes are far more than what has anything to do with prices increasing.

I know for a fact dozens of places that still pay the same rent, put at least half the amount of chicken or pork in dishes, while charging near double the prices, all this while the overall cost of other aspects such was gas, ingredients and wages, are maybe justifying a 20% price increase.

That means a 40 baht meal should now be around 50 baht. The same with coffee, let's say the cost price has increased by like 10 baht per cup, just random figure, they increase the prices here by 30-40 baht. To compensate on having less customers as a result of earlier radical price increases.

Not buying into that, specially not if i know that I can be served the same thing in like south europe, while people there, even with poor wages, earn much more than Thai staff do, and pay more for rent, utilities and ingredients too. Please explain that to start with, you would notice very soon it doesn't make any sense how things are priced in Thailand.

Even I can easily afford everything X3-5 in Thailand, doesn't mean i am very pleased with it, specially knowing that the quality and service lacks on top of all this. And often quality is inconsistent as well. I know when I am being taken for a ride.

Get a good one, as you don't eat them every day 😊 They aren't a health food.

So in reality we are at 26.8g

Once again you suck a new figure out of your thumbs, but you understand that the daily amount of fat you should consume is considerably higher than this, so your whole argument is kind of silly?

Here are a few examples of suggested daily fat ranges for a low fat diet, based on different calorie goals:

  • 1,500 calories: about 50 grams of fat per day
  • 2,000 calories: about 67 grams of fat per day
  • 2,500 calories: about 83 grams of fat per day
  •

https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/how-much-fat-to-eat#TOC_TITLE_HDR_5

So on a mid-range low calorie died I could have 2 burgers and still have room for a carrot cake.

Saturated fat is the issue. Probably more than 20g in a cheeseburger. Pray for that intelligence..

Is Thailand a good value for money - if you have money?

The folks here with money love it here and they are just like anyone with money..they won't spend it unless they get a deal. I see them give 20 baht tips all the time, and you see the wheels turning in their head that they should've tipped only 10 baht.

Imagine having such a little life that you are constantly busy with the miniscule differences of protein and fat or others... Just use common sense and eat diverse.

I don't think there is any concern for that. The question was simply "Are cheese burgers and BBQ meat with BBQ sauce containing sugar considered a healthy choice?"

No one is suggesting that you shouldn't eat them and they aren't tasty. But they aren't health foods and should be eaten in moderation. @fredwiggy insists they are healthy choices 😊 Americans...eh?

Thailand was the most fun place I ever lived in and it wasn't expensive.

Where I live no one is having fun- it's rare to see a smile these sad days. Too much crime, too much stress, too little money, too much food and housing inflation. I know where I'd rather be, though most with a brain cell are heading for Australia.

LOL. On my second visit to Bkk I got flustered and gave a 100 baht tip by mistake. I never made that mistake again.

The guy that got it must have thought it was Christmas.

That waitress was so nice and competent. I though, this time I'll make an exception. She looked embarassed when I gave her the 100 Baht and ran to the main cashier to give him the money to put in the pot. Not even a thanks.

You should never be nice basically, you just get diappointed.
