The incident occurred early morning on October 3, when a motorcycle collided with an 18-wheeler truck, resulting in a fiery fire ball that severely injured an elderly man, who later died from his injuries at Thung Song Hospital.

The crash took place at 07:45, in front of the Border Patrol Police Division 42, in Moo 2, Tam Yai Subdistrict, Thung Song District, Nakhon Si Thammarat. Police Captain Surin Chuakaew, an investigator at Thung Song Police Station, responded to the scene after receiving reports of a collision between a truck and a motorcycle.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers found the 18-wheeler Hino truck, registered in Nakhon Si Thammarat, with its front damaged. Nearby, a burned-out Honda motorcycle, also registered in Nakhon Si Thammarat, was found. A grass-cutting machine was still attached to the charred remains of the bike.

The motorcyclist, identified as 76-year-old Mr. Nattha (surname withheld), suffered severe burns to his entire body. He was rushed to Thung Song Hospital by rescue workers but sadly succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.

The truck driver, Mr. Kittipong (surname withheld), 37, waited at the scene to surrender to police. He explained that he had been driving from Thung Song market when the accident occurred. As he approached a U-turn, Mr. Nattha suddenly cut in front of the truck on his motorcycle, leaving no time to brake. The truck struck the motorcycle, causing it to scrape along the road, rupturing the petrol tank, which ignited into a ball of flames engulfing both the motorcycle and its rider.

Rescue workers extinguish the fire and save Mr. Nattha, but the injuries proved fatal. Authorities conducted an autopsy before releasing the body to the family for funeral arrangements.

Investigators are continuing to gather evidence and witness testimonies to proceed with the legal process.

Why? Unfortunately there is no answer, more than built in stupidity and ignorance, to that question. And, you are soo right. You have to be on your toes when driving here, other wise, we are toast. Because somehow, it´s going to be our fault.

I see this regularly, same thing at STOP signs, pull out in front of oncoming traffic? Not to mention, soon as one person leaves the STOP sign (that's if they stopped at all), everyone does, I wonder if they realize every car has to stop at the STOP sign.
