A man speeding in his car crashed into multiple power poles in Ladprao Soi 48 early on the morning, of October 6, bringing down a total of 11 poles. Authorities discovered a firearm and drugs inside the vehicle. The Metropolitan Electricity Authority estimates it will take two days to restore power.

At 06:20.Lieutenant Satien Phimthong, an investigative officer from Sutthisan Police Station, received a report of a car crash involving downed power poles and a driver trapped inside the vehicle in Soi Ladprao 48, Intersection 16, Huai Khwang District, Bangkok. Police Colonel Porntep Chalermkiat, Superintendent of Sutthisan Police Station, along with officials from the Metropolitan Electricity Authority and volunteers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation, responded to the scene.

Upon arrival, authorities found a white Honda City ZX with a Bangkok license plate that had lost control and crashed into two power poles. The front of the car, including the bumper, hood, and roof, was severely damaged, with the poles collapsing onto the vehicle. Rescue volunteers managed to extract the driver, identified as 28-year-old Mr. Asan Naya from Yala Province. He sustained minor injuries and appeared intoxicated.

A search of the vehicle’s console revealed a 9mm handgun and a quantity of illegal drugs. Officers from the forensic department were called to the scene to collect evidence. Mr. Asan was taken into custody and brought to Sutthisan Police Station for further questioning and to face charges.

The crash not only damaged the two poles directly hit by the vehicle, but the tension from the fallen wires also caused nine more poles in the area to topple, leaving a total of 11 poles down. The resulting damage caused a power outage in the area, and access in and out of the soi was completely blocked.

Initial investigations revealed that Mr. Asan had been driving alone at high speed, entering the soi from Ladprao Road and heading towards Sutthisan Road before losing control and crashing into the power poles.

Yet another data point.  Had the guy been on a scooter, he'd be a gone pecan. Helmet, or no.

That´s exactly right, Mr. Asan! You should always drive at high speed while intoxicated until you lose control when driving with drugs and an illegal gun. Genuis of The Week Award!
