Popular Post Georgealbert Posted October 6, 2024 Popular Post Posted October 6, 2024 As the flood situation in Chiang Mai continues to pose challenges, despite the gradual decline in the Ping River’s water level, many families remain in need of food supplies. Certain areas have become inaccessible to larger relief vehicles, making it difficult to deliver essential aid. In a resourceful response, Phra Kru Aod, a monk from Wat Chedi Luang in Chiang Mai, has taken the initiative to use two elephants under his care, “Khun Saen” and “Saen Thap,” to deliver supplies to flood victims in these hard-to-reach areas. The elephants have been able to traverse areas where six-wheel trucks could not, ensuring that much-needed aid reaches stranded residents. A Facebook user, “Sandy Aloha,” shared a reassuring update on the situation, encouraging the public not to worry about the elephants’ safety. The post highlighted that the animals walked down the center of the road, accompanied by their mahouts and a rescue team. The elephants were closely monitored to ensure they did not step on dangerous objects like nails or water pipes. Concerns were quickly allayed as the animals were under constant supervision throughout their journey. This initiative, led by Phra Kru Aod, highlights the unity, compassion, and resilience of the Chiang Mai community as they come together to support those affected by the floods. With creative solutions like these, the community continues to push through the challenges of the ongoing crisis. Picture from Facebook. -- 2024-10-07 2 2

JimHuaHin Posted October 7, 2024 Posted October 7, 2024 What about the army? During some extensive flooding about 6-7 years ago in Prachuap Khiri Khan and Chumphon, the then prime minister ordered military rescue teams with rescue crafts to travel hundreds of kilometres from Central Thailand to assist in rescue efforts and to help supply food, water and medications to those isolated by flood waters - have there been any reports of similar efforts this year?

black tabby12345 Posted October 7, 2024 Posted October 7, 2024 Monk Leads Elephants “Khun Saen” & “Saen Thap” to Deliver Supplies to Flood Victims How nice. Monk is the spiritual leader of Buddhists Thais. And the religious figure makes a good use of ancient transport in the modern day community for the worldly salvation to those in a critical moment. The perfect Man & Animal collaboration for good deed. Wish all the involved return safely.

It's not th monk I'm worried about - it's using the elephants. Far better to use a 4x4. Walking through flooded water is very dangerous - there is a lot of grabage and trash in tat water that could cut up the elephants feet and putting those racks on their backs is not a good idea- a pickup could carry at lot more.
