Thanks for your input regarding the  historic change of Gun Laws in Thailand.

Is it true that it was 1970s when Thai govt started to restrict foreigners' gun ownership here?

That's something I read back in late 1970s.

It was the Prayuth Govt that blocked gun ownership by "ordinary" foreigners. prior to that it was possible.

Yes, but they were shot from behind so could not see it coming.

Trust me dude you dont want to get shot with a .25 anywhere. Thats why its called a belly gun. You are on top of a woman, trying to get your thing out when she pumps 5 shots from a Baby Browning into your belly? Unless you are a Big Pete Chiodo you are going to bleed out and croak.

I prefer the .32acp myself. 22 mag is nice, my friend caught one in the belly and they had to open him up like a butchered hog to clean up the damage. He started carrying one after he recovered and when folks with gun envy would laugh at his little thing, he would whip off his shirt and show them the scar.

What I heard from other sources is that this traveler thought that not having bullets made this gun harmless, thus acceptable.

Of course, it was a mistake.

But not as if he was of a given age, and originating from a given country...

Obvious mistake, or obvious evil intent, no distinction whatsoever...

Might be that the common sense of an average person should be sought in cases like this one...

And how are things now(re:foreigners' gun ownership  after political transition)?

Did the new govt relax to any extent?

Or still Prayuth rule applies?

Is that issue impacted by the gun crime by the teen in BKK in recent months?

yes ... i agree ... it's not correct ...

I just wanted to point out there are approx 8 million bike kids and most have a gun under the seat.  haha

The weapon used in the attack was also recovered by the police, hidden under the seat of his motorcycle.  :cheesy:

It must take you an awful lot of time to check all those kids bikes.

Sorry, couldn't help myself.   Agree, silly statement by S100.   Although from experience, it easy to acquire a gun (2 if wanting) in TH.
