Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra should ask her Japanese counterpart during the ASEAN Summit in Laos to extradite a suspect in the Tak Bai massacre to stand trial in Thailand before the statute of limitations runs out on October 25.

People’s party leader Natthaphong Ruengpanyawut, also the Opposition leader, told a press conference today that two of seven suspects due to stand trial have fled the country, one to Japan and another to the UK.

The suspect believed to be in Japan can either be extradited as a wanted man or deported as a persona non grata. Since there is no extradition treaty between Thailand and Japan, Natthaphong suggested that the PM takes an opportunity during the ASEAN plus 3 summit in Laos to ask the Japanese prime minister for help in getting the unnamed suspect deported to Thailand for trial.

I don't see how she can ask for extradition for these guys, They are not convicted of anything yet, the only thing they have done is run away don't think that is a crime ( might be wrong )  even if it is its a minor offense  YES they are Suspect in the Tak bai Massacre but until proven guilty they are just suspects that is all,  it is a Thai trate to run away  can not stand up and take responsibility, the blame for this is the police by not locating them and physically arrest  rather than wait for them to turn up

Same as the guy from RB.

He has not been convicted but there is/was supposed to be a 'red' notice out for him with Interpol.

And he 'only' killed one policeman.

You want the police to do some extra work and possibly upset somebody after they have contributed to the brown envelope collection?

Please don't forget a certain Red Bull fugitive who is also getting towards his statute of limitations, this would increase the PM's popularity with the common people ............LOL

How long has this case been open... Thai justice stinks.

He will probably be coming home as soon as the Statute of Limitations runs out on his remaining cases. Surely there can't be much longer left on them.

how hard would it get, to get rid of this statue of limitations...

seem to be used by the rich and famous

and 112 to get rid of political enemies

The statue of limitations (Called Prescription in Thai law)    is A law it would have to be changed.

112 is part of the constitution this has already been tried with no success

But that would be your father, I think he's in Thailand at the moment, no need for an extradition.

Exactly!  Responsibility goes all the way up.
