It's trial and error, i found True to be unreliable, AIS the best, DTAC a good second

  • I'm not sure if you can make blanket statements like that.  I think it can vary from location to location and in different regions of the country.  You are not always going to get the same signal stre

AIS is actually quite fast. At home in the south I get 150MPS or more. But when I travel to Bkk or Pattaya I feel lucky to only get 7. MPS

Internet speed depends on multiple things not just the weather. It is affected by the number of people on the internet, switches and servers whilst fast have limitations to their handling capacity. Installation can affect the speed as well as temperature.

No more 12-month data SIM's from all operators? Or just no more NT Thunder options?

Are those 1-year devices and prices?

My DTAC data SIM in the 4G router will expire in January so maybe I better start looking at alternatives.

I have both DTAC & AIS 12 month sims, they both expired earlier this year.

Both service, via SMS offered a further 12 months same speeds and volume if you top up the sim to cover the offer, similar/same as original purchase price.

From memory the offer was good for 2 weeks.

So maybe worthwhile to occasionally put your sim in a phone to check for SMS message through January

Meant the WiFi choice: 2.4G or 5G

2.4GHz or 5GHz written incorrectly by the lazy and ignorant.

AFAIK, the SIM may not last a full year, but only up to the end of July next year.

When I read that bit I thought it must be registered by then which seemed out of kilter with other offerings, but losing the service then sounds more like it.

Can anyone recommend  a SIM router with antenna from Lazada

At this point in time, unless you're really budget constrained it would be worth considering a 5G router as it will also double as the most capable 4G router available, having access to all / most of the LTE bands.

You can pick up a (new model) TP-Link Archer NX200 5G for less than 5000 THB on sale which is a bit of a bargain really, and less than half the price it costs in UK / Europe. Just put the SIM in and it's ready to go. I'm using it right now with True 5G (I have a 1 month unlimited SIM while visiting) and it can hit 300Mbps download at times. I haven't even experimented with the positioning much, it may be capable of more.

If you want to spend less then I believe the TP-Link Archer MR600 (4G Cat6) is regarded as the gold standard in Thailand.
