Dear Folks,

Tomorrow is a Sunday.

And, today is a Saturday.

So, then.....

Why can't we be friends?

Sometimes I worry about the apparent contention I see in the Farang Pub....

And, I can tell you...

I do not much like it.

I prefer a more harmonious Pub.....

Don't you?

Or....

Probably.

You might not.

Anyway....

Each to his own.

Best regards,

Gamma

Note....:

LESS Contention is More.

Haven't you ever heard the expression looking for love in all the wrong places?

Seriously, do you have any semblance of a real life beyond AN?

You deserve some type of award.

You were booed off the stage repeatedly. People called you every name in the book and threw tomatoes at you.

And yet you've stood the test of time.

You got cajones man. I'll give you that much.

I suspect much of the discord will reduce when this contentious election season ends.  I for one refuse to get riled up by those who apparently WANT conflict here.  I just ignore it.  I'm still rich and incredibly handsome so what does it matter.  🤣

Yes.

And, without much doubt, this is one of the most insane elections America has experienced in quite some time.

So, as you say, in times like this, it pays to be both wealthy and handsome.

It's clear that you won't get by on your wits alone.

I've never been one for looking for friends.  The best that you can hope for is to strike up acquaintances and see what transpires.

There's a couple of acquaintances on this forum that I would consider friends, having together plumbed the depths of disappointment on a miserable November afternoon at Pittodrie, but for most here, a polite hello, a nod of acknowledgement, a shake of the hand, and a passing polite remembrance of familiar tales is about as far as it goes.

BUT...

Can you name the most beautiful type of all?

I would say that it must be the type used in the old Olympia typewriters that I once used and loved.

OLYMPIA

You cannot beat the Germans for style, I guess.

When I was in my teens, I had an Olympia typewriter, an office model, electric, which was almost as heavy as I.

Can't beat the Germans, for type.

(I had this exact model of Olympia typewriter....by the looks of it.)

At the time, a woman like this was far too old for me.

Now, she is too young for me.

Back in the day, I inherited my mother's manual typewriter, when she graduated to an electric, or maybe a word processor.  It had a serif font, weighed the best part of a tonne, and made a satisfactory thwacking sound that the neighbours two floors up could hear.

Back in the day, we'd be out in the pub and drinking rounds; if someone said "I've got no money", everyone would be out with a note "You can borrow a fiver", even if that meant they'd be borrowing money themselves when it came to their round.

Now, when some says "Can I ask you something?", my first response is "Does it involve money?"

We're acquaintances.

Hopefully, at that time, you did not do much writing, and disturbing of the neighbors.

Keep one's writing to a minimum, as I always say, thereby disturbing no one.

Well you like Pittodrie so I suppose we can make allowances.

Whatever happened to Gill Sans by the way, it used to be more than popular.

Never see it now.
