So do the 483,000 long term residents have to apply for citizenship, or will they be contacted? Are these just people who have annual extensions to a visa? What about those of us who have Pemanent residency? Will we be granted citizenship? As for children born in Thailand with a Thai parent, they automatically have Thai citizenship!

well as courageous as it is, I have lived here a very long time - spent a lot of money, maybe they need to expand that a little and consider those that have contributed  to Thailand  for many many years

You don't qualify then? How come?

You have citizenship of another Country, the people in question don't have citizenship of any other Country.

Besides, there are avenues that you can take to get Thai citizenship if you want

Lots of Children born in Thailand haven't got a Thai parent , some their Grandparents were born in Thailand but they didn't get Thai citizenship .

They were born on a dirt floor in the mountains  and not officially recorded anywhere

That's a courageous and very welcome act to have been taken by the cabinet.

Congratulations!

Indeed. They've just gotten themselves about 335,000 new votes at the next rodeo.
