Koh Samui Christmas '07

Featured Replies

hello,

myself the wife and another married couple are heading to Koh Samui for 3 weeks over christmas this year. I'd be grateful for any accomodation reccomendations ; probably want to stay on Chaweng beach. Looking to spend about 3000-4000 baht a night. Would prefer bungalow/hut, to hotel type room. Seen a few on sawadee.com, namely Al 's place, Ark Bar Garden and Malibu, has anyone had experience of these ?

What's the deal with just turning up and looking for somewhere at that time of year ?

Also looking to get to Koh Phangan for new yrs eve, sounds like its easy to get over there from Samui by boat ??

many thanks

Turning up and looking around is not a good idea at Christmas. This is probably the only time that gets filled up in Samui nowadays.

Try looking at Samui lagoon resort. I stayed there the last time I was on Samui. They have a few different bungalow types ranging from around 1800-3000. Very nice gardens and a pool right next to the beach in Chawang. Getting to Phangyan is also very easy from Samui. There are regular ferries and also a few speedboats that go from Bohput . If its the full moon party you are going to then my advice would be to leave all valubles in hotel on Samui and take just what you need for the party. Go on the afternoon, have the party and then get the ferry back the next morning. Enjoy :o

sharky, had some friends stay at Malibu Resort a few years back, nice rooms.I used to meet my friends there and spend the afternoon by the pool which is next to the beach,it has a restaurant on beach front aswell, nice place to chill. The Ark Bar has been here for years, the bar area is always busy,i suppose it is the 'in place'to go on the beach, not to sure on quality of the rooms. As for Al's Place, don't know nothing. As for just turning up,you could be walking around for ages as xmas is mobbed,we hope!!,try to book!Good luck.

Agree with Lite Beer, Xmas and New Year are very bad times to turn up and look for a room.
