The £10 winter allowance is automatic but the £200/£300 had to be applied for with proof of residence/declaration that you were resident in the UK on a certain (changeable) date which was usually in September!

Don't know as I never received 200/300GBP. They sent me 250GBP when my UK address had 2 other pensioners living there (they also received 250GBP each), and 500GBP when they had both died. Along with 10GBP Christmas bonus. One of the problems I have with these posts, is that none of you seem to really know the correct information.
