I am one who didn't know my pension would be locked, I came to LOS 8 years before pension age, my accountant didn't tell me my pension would be locked either, I found out after creating a life for myself, here.

So, folk have different experiences, I, for one, never heard of locked pensions.

Me plain stupid, I don't think so............😉

I also don't think this thread is for you, condescending posts from a non-Brit is a bit much........🤔

Never said you were plain stupid. I said it is plain stupid to hide information from your government. As you were not aware of it, then you could not have hidden anything either. If you have, your in for a ride. 😉

And, then after, condescending posts from a non Brit. I am talking in general about how stupid it is to hide information from government, and that always comes back and bite sooner or later. I am also talking about that moving abroad, to Thailand in this case, is not something everyone can afford, and it´s therefore stupid to try and live on the edge, fearing have to leave every time something happens.

There must always be a buffer. In my opinion a big one. If I didn´t have that, I would never settled in Asia. As a last point. Never tell me if I should post or not post in a thread. You Brits don´t own the right to do that.

We all know, you keep telling us how wonderful you are and living in a 'luxury' villa....:saai:

Your problem is, you think everybody else should have done what you did, you cannot think outside your own weeeee bubble..........🤔

Pretty sad really..............:coffee1:

At least I have no problem, and don´t need to complain as soon the baht moves a little bit. So, no, not sad at all. And then your still stuck on that luxury villa. How long time ago was that, a year? At least you´re not senile. 🤣

There are lots of reasons some guys end up skint at pension age.Usually women but bad investments, alcoholism, serious illness etc but that should never stop the same guys wanting happiness in their later life and a life watching your pennies in Thailand is much more preferable than living in the UK at present.

Ok, no problem! Be happy with that then, and stop complaining about everything from the weather and politics to your poor little pennies in Thailand. 🤣🤣🤣

So no research, no planing what so ever. Just hop on a plane and nirvana.  You are definitely not alone.  Man with the pension being locked, inflation and the Thai Government wanted their pound of flesh. How do you guys make it?  Very wealthy when you made the transition?

When I was living there I only spend my SS check and was getting raises yearly. My investments were never touched back in the US. If my pension would of been frozen I would not have lived there 5 minutes.

So still not set in stone and might meet the same fate as the first attempt.

The previous attempt didn't fail per se. It was 'prorogued' because of the upcoming general election. there was not enough time to complete the procedure.

I don't see another general election on the horizon, do you?

I did do research, my accountant, unfortunately for me, he probably didn't know my pension would be locked, either.......😂

And hey, I would never in a million years have planned to move to Thailand, I ended up here via circumstances, which is another story.........:guitar:

. My ex wife, UK based, sends money back to Thailand for Thais in the UK who don't have a UK bank account. Why is the UK Government more interested in checking pensioners overseas transactions?

Sounds like the Thais in the UK cannot get a bank account because they don't have the correct visa .

So your Ex Wife is assisting illegal immigrants working illegally and not paying tax and your Ex is money laundering by sending untaxed money out the UK?

And your point is what exactly. She is my ex so I don't give a xxxx. That is an issue for the DWP, HMRC and Immigration. What does concern me is that the Government is more concerned with chasing pensioners than it is with chasing illegal immigrants. Let them do their job.

Trolling?  no better than you, loads of hogwash for last 10 years at least and still frozen,  man o man

Thing is, nobody repeat nobody has ever been caught/punished/had pension stopped/reduced/paid back, is ever likely to, of course you know loads, only you mind, truly hilarious looking back and seeing your outpourings of damnation itself pouring forth

As stated your pension now is that small there are not enough fivers to give that butt of yours a good wipe after a dump

People with more than £15000 in their accounts on means tested benefits will be investigated, go find it ,not pensioners

I know you eat them  but Batchelors mushy peas tend to make you fart from the backside too

The Gov are tackling illegal immigration in other ways .

Taking measures to stop them from renting accommodation so they got nowhere to stay ,, fining people who employ them and probably other measures as well

I will be reporting your accusation that I called you a liar to the moderators. I just said that I can't remember when I first took out a mobile phone contract or some of the other dumb stupid questions. It was 2002, 2003 or 2004 I think. As to the exact date, time of day, the setting of the sun on that day, whether it was raining or sunshine, the phase of the moon I really couldn't care just that a Government department would be so anal as to ask such a dumb stupid question. We don't have the Nazis or the Stazi in the UK and the Government should stop acting as if there was. As for apologising, in your dreams.

You did seem to be doubting my word  there .

The question is a multiple choice question :

*When did you last sign a phone contract .*

Less than 1 year ago

1-2 years ago

3-5 years ago

5-8 years ago

Never

Posted

"The policy on pension uprating overseas has been in place for many years. Some retirees find it challenging to manage their finances effectively due to frozen pensions."

Its jealousy and envy that drives these types of threads, frozen for years alongside unfrozen.  Remember sitting at a bar once ,just two  of us ,chatting away, until this subject came up. The guy obv frozen ,was spitting fury at end of confession and the fact I was not. I never minded or worried at informing I was unfrozen, nothing (even with lol informers) would anything be done

I have absolutely no idea when I last signed a mobile phone contract. The reason being that I have absolutely no need or reason to know that except to answer a dumb stupid question from the DWP. If I was to guess it was more than 8 years ago but that isn't an option. I really have no idea. And where did I say that I doubted your word, I suggested that there are far more important things in life to remember. But then that is the UK Government for you. An offense not to know when you last signed a mobile phone contract. I have reported your accusation so it is now in the hands of the moderators.

They ask the questions so that you can identify yourself and stop online fraud .

My point was that the Government know that information about you and they ask you questions to see whether you know or not, just to confirm that its you .

So if you think that you can just deny having a passport and deny  having a (2nd)  bank account and deny having a telephone and deny ever being to Thailand , then the Gov would know that you are lying

Yes, you have already told me that you have gone crying to the Mods once, no need to tell me again , all you had to do was to clarify and state that you wasn't accusing me of lying .

Its not an offense to not know the answers they ask  , that isn't true (although I am not accusing you of lying , so no need to get the hanky out again)

Its a very convenient way to identify yourself , takes a few minutes.

If the questions are too difficult for you , there's a phone number that you can call
