Just wondering if I entered the UK on my British passport and left  on my Thai passport if they would actually know I had left.

Do they check passport details?

no, and even if they did what to happen?    nothing. If on OAP non sanctionable

I have 8 years to go but will they check my address by phoning me there?

My bank account is at my mother's address and never been contacted by them apart from statements.

Weeeell, it seems the UK state pension is a benefit as some MP's are not happy about it, so I just go by what the law is at present...

https://petition.parliament.uk/archived/petitions/121267

That same singulat rhetoric. Why are some unprepared to accept that politicians have a vested interest in protecting their mismanagement of the legislation.  Only the ignorant would think that the law has always been right.

Your quote

The State Pension is described in legislation as a “benefit” in order to root it within the existing social security framework as a statutory scheme paid out of monies in the National Insurance Fund.

Despite what the quote may say, there is no statutory amount for the state pension and the Graduated Pension Scheme never had anything to do with National Insurance.

The political rhetoric is false by omission and deliberately misleading, effectively Fraud by False Representation.

The term "OAP" (Old Age Pension) is generally used to refer to the State Pension in the UK. The State Pension is not classified as a benefit in the same way that welfare benefits like Jobseeker's Allowance or Universal Credit are. Instead, it's a contributory pension that individuals receive based on their National Insurance contributions during their working life.  By law you must receive this payment without any adjustment

Don't be silly, do all pensioners get paid the same amount....NO, each pension benefit is worked out individually.........................😂

Read below, then ride off into the sun-set..........:cowboy:

When someone takes their anger out on you, it can be very hurtful and confusing. You may wonder what you did wrong or how you can make them stop. However, you should know that their anger is not your fault, and you don’t have to tolerate their abusive behavior.

Here are some tips for navigating other people’s misplaced anger and protecting yourself in the process:

Stay Calm and Composed: When someone redirects their anger and frustration at you, remain polite but detached. Say something like, “I understand you’re deeply upset over frozen pension, more than likely paranoid but there’s no need for hostility.” If they continue raging, remove yourself from the interaction. You don’t need to subject yourself to abuse.

Remember It’s Not About You: Their anger usually isn’t about you. React with empathy and total compassion. Say, “It seems like you’re going through a horribly money-less frustrating time. I’m sorry to hear that dickhead.” Your level-headedness may help them gain perspective and calm down., tell them to cook some sausages

Avoid Defensiveness: Don’t make excuses or get defensive. Remain neutral. If an apology is warranted later, offer a sincere one lol. But in the heat of the moment, stay centered.

Seek Support:  Get them to talk to a friend or family member to decompress. Their anger and insults say more about them which is true "  thick as pig<deleted> comes to mind", so don’t internalize them. Release any negative feelings so you can remain detached and gleefully happy with your unfrozen pension well done, and you especially true and in control of your own reactions.

Remember, you deserve respect and kindness, even when the frozen pensioners display are struggling desperately, perhaps doing self harm, with their uncontrollable emotions1.

What a waste of time..............🤣

Indeed.

In 1961 the term "State Pension" ceased to be a valid reference for the OAP. it became an umbrella term for payments that would be received at state pension age.

Government statements on the frozen pension issue always refer to the state pension when they actually mean the basic component rather than the pension as a whole. This is a deliberate falsehood and many that are ignorant of the state pension structure go along with it.

My state pension is made up of several components and quite obviously calculated on an individual basis. the letter that came with it even said so.

It should be noted that the bottom component was based on contributions to the GRB scheme rather than NI.

They send a letter to your home address with a code to use online around 6 months before your retirement date.

Your mom sends you the code, then you use a VPN to complete the claim online (can't access the claim site without VPN).

Two things they want to know online,

Q: are you married? A: no! ...... this avoids extra forms being posted.

Q: what is your bank account details?

That's it, they don't even ask for confirmation of your address (as they just wrote to you at it).

Thanks for the information, interesting to know.

Do they do this every year too?

I think they know I am in Thailand as I applied to pay Class 2 voluntary contributions on the basis of working abroad.

However, my mother's house in UK actually belongs to me.

Not familiar with the phrase "your (you're) wearing the cap". And at 26 pages I'm not going to try and trace what it was I responding to. But in my experience, most people on this forum can't tell the difference between irony, lampoon, and satire for instance, and sarcasm. But I'm not sure what you're referring to.

You can dig up anything you want, at the end of the day "state pension" is a generic term and has to be defined in context.

The ignorance make me think you participated in the fraudulent contracting out arrangement.

That is a rather silly comment, when the State pension is actually called a benefit by the UK Gov, which I have shown you from credible links.

It is a benefit to give pensioners, get it, pensioners, as in pension...........🙄

Now posting 'put-downs' to members shows you ARE in a corner, now run along..........:coffee1:

It's difficult to grasp your perspective on this, but it seems you never will—just continue producing subpar content.

As stated, each payment (unfrozen) is calculated based on age, National Insurance contributions, SERPS, and graduation payments. So what? I receive all of these, as will anyone else who qualifies, and it amounts to a pretty penny when received unfrozen, of course.

The initial pension benefit is calculated on many things, the form is very long and time-consuming.

I am sure we are all very happy you get everything in your benefit, well done.........:clap2:

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

My bank called me today and said that they needed to update my account details, which would take 20 minutes or so and it seems that transam was right to warn us. They asked me if my address and phone number were correct, no problem, but then they started asking me where I was and after I told them I spend the winters in Thailand and Barbados. they then asked me how long I spend in England, to which I replied at least 6 months in Europe, including England.

So you admitted to living outside the UK most of the year and the bank got a bit nosey.

Nobody to blame but yourself (Europe is outside the UK).

Never admit to being outside the UK except for short holidays.

Have a UK SIM (for security SMS) and a UK (Skype) landline number (for phone calls).

It's not that hard!

No important information, nothing new, debanking expats happens regularly.

Usually to those who 'cannot tell a lie".

You said they called you, on a Thai SIM?

My main address is in France, I lived there for 15 years, the DWP know that and send life certificated there. There are too many of you that make false assumptions and yes they also know that I spend most of the winter in Thailand. You dont have to be in the UK for 6 months, I thought you knew that.

You do if you want to keep your bank account with Barclays, Lloyds or NatWest.

These 3 banks regularly and randomly debank expats.

And EU countries are on the list where pensions are not frozen.

No need for aggression, Spain and France expats are being randomly debanked since Brexit.
