Authorities launched an operation to tackle illegal foreign workers, focusing on individuals taking jobs from Thai nationals. Following orders from Pol. Gen. Ittipon Ittisarothai, Commissioner of the Immigration Bureau and Pol. Lt. Gen. Prasat Khemapisit, Commander of the Immigration Division 1, a series of inspections took place at a shopping mall in the Lat Phrao area of Bangkok on November 14.

Working in close collaboration with the Department of Employment and other law enforcement agencies, the operation targeted 18 massage parlours in the mall, where officers discovered that five businesses were violating Thai labour laws. In total, 21 foreign nationals were found working illegally, all of whom were Myanmar nationals.

The arrested individuals face multiple charges, including working without a permit and overstaying their visas. Specifically, five workers were found to have entered the country illegally, while 16 others were caught working in roles outside their allowed scope. Four employers are also being prosecuted for hiring foreign workers without the proper permits.

The crackdown is part of a broader national effort, led by the government and the Royal Thai Police, to curb illegal foreign employment and ensure that Thai citizens are not being displaced in the workforce.

The 21 foreign workers have been taken into custody and will face legal proceedings, while the four employers are under investigation. Authorities have vowed to continue monitoring and cracking down on illegal labor in the country.

I guess they must shield the Thais from competition, so they all can maintain the low quality. Any competition would kill them.
