Nice, really nice.

Thank you @csmith for posting that here.

Very professional video production.

Clearly, someone is skilled at using a camera.

A little bit unclear about the objective of the video:

#1 - to advertise video services?

If so, did a good job of that.  (And I'm all for personal/business advertising like this.  Wish there was more of it on this forum, so we could find out about products and services available in this area.

#2 - show a view of an up-scale and very expensive housing development?

If so, what struck me was the houses look "picture perfect", but few people were out and about.

Except for a few long shots of two people in a swimming pool, no other residents to be seen.

Well, I'd like to see more along these lines.

Perhaps a thread: "videos of my soi, my moo-baan" from all over Thailand.

That would be fascinating.

I hate going through manned security like that. Feels too restrictive.

I always appreciate manned security like that ... housing development or industrial estate.

Says that residents care enough about their property to pay extra to protect it.

What I wonder is how long the manned security will last.

Have seen so many empty, deserted, security booths -- clearly deserted for years.

When that happens, attention to the properties inside declines also.

No security => properties on the way down.

So, I'll take manned security any day!

I used to live in gated community with manned gates and even fancy patrol vehicles with lights, etc.

It seemed Ok at first until I realized that it was all meant to make people feel safer. It had nothing to do with actual security since we were out in a semi-rural location.

A waste of money basically paid for with resident assessments. You're right though, residents may have the funds to keep the area up and looking well and care about the area.

They kept upgrading the security all the time as well, needing better patrol vehicles that were as good as police cruisers, etc.

I live in a gated community in the suburbs of Bangkok that has a card operated (and 24hr staffed) barrier at the entrance and another at each phase entrance. If anyone wants to visit the guard rides a motorcycle to the house to check. Visitors are issued a paper pass at each checkpoint which I stamp to authorise their exit.

Consequently it is very secure and we never have non-residents wandering about. I feel much safer than I ever did in England.
