So you knowingly and deliberately break the law, and think that saying "oh, sorry officer" will have Plod moving along.

They do say that most criminals are not the sharpest pencils....

PH

No police will be involved,   I know plenty of people with an address in the UK that they use for such purposes, many have died and took their "secret" to the grave with them.        not so stupid after all eh?  I also know a few saintly types who fessed up to the DWP on day 1 and suffered for the rest of their lives on a pension of £65 per week...

So who are the sharpest then ?

I still think that this is why it will fall apart - the idea of paying tax on your imported savings in another country is a killer. It will kill off people moving here and will destroy investment in the housing market - imagine paying 25% tax on sending money to buy a house and losing millions of baht - because THAT is what this law would do

I already didn't buy a new car this year, just in case.

It's going to get that tied up with double taxation agreements the bureaucrats will say the hell with it. Particularly when it is pension incomes being transferred.

I could make any pen-pusher's life miserable by transferring post-2024 income up to the tax-free limit, then from pre-2024 savings, all documented.

However, I don't see any need to do so until Immigration starts wanting to see tax returns.

Would be nice if they made things crystal clear then i can decide whether to leave for 6+ months

Hi, I also received this E-mail. I went to K- bank Jomtien and they put the information from Att 1 in computer (Att 2 and 3 only for US people) and copied my passport and bankbook.

Everything solved in 5 min.

There appear to be so many on here who are so excited about this that they just can't wait to hand over some cash,

Who will be handing over cash ? Strange comment.

There are many who will comply with the rules and hand over nothing.

Presumably they will then feel further justification whilst preaching to the rest of us or virtue signalling to like minded others

No one is preaching anything, they are pointing out reality.

Perhaps those that do not wish to face reality, or are in complete denial of reality, should refrain from posting.

Are you seriously suggesting that after  wading through the plethora of threads on the tax system, anybody  would be any the wiser?

Only a fool with a lot of time to waste would go through those threads....

I will wait to see how and if I'm affected when the time comes.  Until it does come it can be anyone's guess what will occur. Even the so-called tax pros have no idea exactly what may or may not occur.

It sounds to me as if a whole lot of nothing is going to be handed over..

Back in 2011 Chiang Mai immigration required me to provide a copy of my 1040 tax return to get an extension approval based on marriage.

During that time an affidavit using the US Embassy assistance was enough for income verification but that single time for me they also requested my a copy of my 1040...

I personally know K Bank.

Have done for 18 years.

Let me add.... a reputable company who is knowledgeable with internet security will generate a secured message center within their website and use that place to communicate as well as provide forms.

Then they would give you a quick email or PM telling you to check the secure message location.

Opening and downloading attachments can be dangerous.
