The fixation with being constantly stoned baffles me. Why the need?

Reality is boring 🙃🫠

Surprised no one stated the obvious. Passengers can be prevented from flying if they appear to be impaired. This is for both safety and security reasons.    If one is impaired, how do you expect to be able to be able to exit the the aircraft in the event of an emergency?  Worse yet, if your reaction time is slowed, you can impede the exit of other passengers.

Half of the people on the plane are pissed out of their head. They sop up all the free champagne, wine and booze and then pop a Valium or Xanax on top of that and cruise. They are in a far worse state than anyone getting on the plane with a little bit of THC in their system. I've seen some that look completely inebriated on alcohol and pills. Forget about a flight emergency.

I'm thinking any aircraft emergency that has me trying to find an exist is not really that bad.

I was wondering about taking a single cannabis edible with me to the airport and consuming it after I check in for an international flight, but before I go through security and immigration. This way I should be nicely baked as I get on the plane, but also not carry anything with me out of the country that I shouldn't.

The flight I'm considering this for would only be about six hours. Probably, by the time I would be getting off the plane, the effects would be over with anyway. Do people often do this? Is it a pleasant way to fly?

I also read the following, but not sure if it's the same for everyone:

Potential Benefits:

1. Relaxation:

• For many regular users, cannabis can help reduce anxiety and promote relaxation, which might make a long flight feel more comfortable. This could be especially useful for those who feel stressed about flying or being in crowded spaces.

2. Pain or Discomfort Relief:

• Cannabis can alleviate physical discomfort, such as back pain or stiffness, which might make sitting for long periods more bearable.

3. Time Perception:

• Some users report that cannabis makes time seem to pass differently. This could make a six-hour flight feel shorter and more tolerable.

4. Entertainment Enhancement:

• Enjoying music, movies, or even just staring out the window might be more immersive and pleasurable.

Only way to fly…

I dropped a tab of LSD just before I got on a plane at Tan Son Nhut for my flight out of Vietnam and the war in 1971.

The airplane ascended to 30,000 feet, and I continued on to 50,000 feet.

Still waiting to come down from the high of surviving.

Your hyperbole is baseless. That might be the case on the cheap discount flights from Europe to Turkey, the ones that feature the fights and the diversions, but it is most certainly not the case on the  major airlines. Most passengers are not stoned or inebriated when departing, despite the urban myth. Yes, some people are, but they are the small minority.

First off, champagne is not served in the non premium classes. Nor is alcohol served until the aircraft is at cruising altitude and out of a turbulence zone.  I don't know how often you fly, but as a frequent flyer in premium class, the alcohol service  has been cut back over the years. The complementary champagne pre takeoff  that some airlines serve is less than 100 ml. If people are  showing up to flights  stoned to oblivion, then they pick the option of burning alive  when the plane has a failed takeoff. I just don't need them in my way counting unicorns and rainbows, delaying my quick exit.

I was in Phuket at the time.  Many people did not get off the aircraft.

I could be fully baked and still way more cognizant and functional than any drunk piss head on a plane. You probably don’t understand much about how marijuana affects the brain, but as soon as you get hit with any real life situation that you have to deal with then the high immediately goes away. It’s all psychoactive. It’s not like somebody who’s got a high blood alcohol level that lose control of their judgment and balance. You really don’t have a clue about how the two different drugs affect the brain, but that’s OK. You can go on with your misconceptions and I’ll leave to it. Bye.

I bake all the time while flying. I use small disposible vapes or small carts. By small I mean half grammers that you can toss if necessary.

I have various techniques to ensure a relaxed flight but I do not carry anything when transiting through the Middle East or Turkey.

Regardless of where I am going, when leaving the States, Germany, Thailand or Cambodia, I do an edible right before security. I then top up with the vape.

So you vape in the airport before boarding ? Pretty stupid actually based on governing laws as they are not the same in airports or planes as in country.  Edibles far safer

Depends on the airport

Do edibles not take a couple of hours to take effect. And you COULD be tested for Internal Possession in some countries, eg UAE, and that's not nice.

Actually. you are very much mistaken! I didn't buy it; it was made for me for free by a grateful Thai man (a qualified tailor) for taking care of his daughter (in the most honorable way). I wore it only twice, once to go to the opera (where that photo was taken) and at which I was voted the best dressed man! The other occasion was at a Thai wedding, both times in 2006.

You will be pleased to know, I no longer have it - the suit, that is!

T'was just a dash of cheeky commentary and you turned that around nicely with your positive story, so props to you...

..... If nothing else, it sounds like the tailor managed to steal the show without even hitting a single high note !!!!

And? How is it?

The passengers next to him get a bit annoyed being covered in flour.
