Kamala Harris' Post-Election Video Goes Viral

A recent video of Vice President Kamala Harris addressing supporters following her 2024 presidential election defeat has gained significant attention online, sparking a range of reactions. The clip, posted by the Democratic Party's account on X (formerly Twitter), showcases Harris thanking donors and delivering a motivational message. However, it has also drawn criticism and skepticism over its presentation and content.  

 

The 28-second video, released on Tuesday, features Harris urging her audience to stay resilient despite the election outcome. “I just have to remind you: Don’t you ever let anybody take your power from you. You have the same power that you did before November 5, and you have the same purpose that you did. And you have the same ability to engage and inspire, so don’t ever let anybody or any circumstance take your power from you,” Harris said during the call.

While the intention behind the video seemed to be a message of empowerment, the delivery and its release timing have raised eyebrows. Social media users quickly picked up on the video, which has since gone viral with over 8.4 million views, 6,400 reposts, and 11,000 likes.  

 

Critics questioned the decision to publish the clip, with Ben Williamson, a former communications specialist for the Trump White House, reposting it alongside a caption that read, “I’d read a 5,000-word article on how this got approved for release.” His remark drew agreement from others, including Steve Guest, a former special communications adviser to Senator Ted Cruz.  

 

Joe Concha, a Fox News contributor, expressed doubts about the clip, commenting, “I’m not sure you guys want to be amplifying this. There’s something, ummmm, off with the vice president.”  

 

The video also received harsh criticism from conservative commentator Benny Johnson, who shared an extended 10-minute version of Harris' remarks. In this longer version, Harris praised Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, her running mate, and other supporters, but Johnson’s caption focused on her campaign’s financial losses. He wrote, “FULL VIDEO: Kamala Harris addresses supporters three weeks after humiliating loss to Trump in painfully CRINGE 10 minute rant where she brags about wasting over $1.4 BILLION in donor money. This is hard to watch—YIKES.”

Even political scientist Ian Bremmer, president of the Eurasia Group, added to the discourse, offering a single word in response to the Democrats’ post: “um.”  

 

As the clip continues to circulate, it has sparked discussions about political messaging, presentation, and public perception. Newsweek reportedly reached out to Harris' campaign for comment but had not received a response at the time of reporting.  

 

This video, while intended as a moment of gratitude and inspiration, highlights the heightened scrutiny political figures face in the age of social media, where every gesture is dissected and amplified for millions to judge.

I was reading about how she has laid off thousands of campaign workers without any thanks or compensation. So perhaps those left are not responding for a reason.
