Unfortunately I am a bad sleeper. Rarely get anything like eight hours, even after a hard workout at the gym. still wake up feeling knackered. Lack of enough sleep is worse for one's health than too much.

I have tried everything, from not eating after 7pm, and going to bed at 10:30,  to ear plugs.  I guess it's just the way I am.

But the quietness of the early mornng is a bonus.

Turn off phone a few hours before bed. Does wonders for one’s sleep.

When doesn't matter, as I'm usually awake in <6 hrs after I fall asleep.   Usually some time around midnight, to before sunrise.  0500 this morning, myself & dog up for a P, then coffee.

When I was younger I used to have a resting heart rate of 46. I used to ride my bike 1.5 hours per day.

I did cut sugar out of my diet around 2 months ago and may be reaping the rewards now.

Just now watched a vid, detailing advantages of cutting sugar out of your diet.  Decent and most folks should watch, and I can attest to everything he states.

If you can get pass 2 weeks, and stay Keto-ish, then you got it beat, with a little will power.  It really is amazing how addicting & habit forming sugar is.

Yes I don't fight it,  at all  now.

Just go with it.

But I have changed my diet back in July, very, very  low carb now, a bit of a carnivore diet with some bad habits . :giggle:

and have a lot more energy and get up and go now.

Even if i only go to porn hub at 2 am.

I envy your BP and low pulse, you are very healthy. The lowest I've seen my pulse is 58, daily average including nights 61.

You blood pressure numbers are amazing.

I go to bed 3am, wake up around noon. Feel good.

Where is the place to by this machine for the lowest price in Thailand?

Normally, I like to use the traditional mercury type, but now expensive..and, they do not provide the mercury like the good old days.

Is this really as accurate?

Somehow, I doubt it.

Also, the sound of the machine makes my blood pressure rise.

So, I would need one without sound.

OR, what about the same brand but with a stethoscope and cuff?

Minus the mercury, unfortunately.

I got mine ... here

Make a bit of noise, the compressor filling the compression strap.  Could always use ear plugs or headphones.   Though better listen to Phl Ochs or John Prine, to keep BP down, instead of Jeff Beck :intheclub:

This is not about what I knew or not knew, it belongs in the same category as the climate change threads.

Ok we can not eat sugar anymore, we also should not eat fat, also not processed foods and I'm sure I forget a lot of other things we should not eat.

Oh yeah, salmon is healthy, but just the other day I read an article that claimed you should not eat it more than once a week, otherwise it would become unhealthy.

Maybe we should start grazing like the cows?

In short, I have eaten all my life what I like to eat. I'm 66 years old, and I can't remember the last time I saw a doctor, other than for a dirty flute.

My dad died last year, 2 days before his 96th birthday, and he never has looked after what he could or could not eat.

The only medicine he took was something for cholesterol, so I think I will be fine with my diet.

I have some suspicion that these types of BP monitors are INACCURATE.

Whether or not I am correct, depends upon which study you read...maybe....

I think more research is warranted before I decide on what type of device to rely on.

I still love the old mercury models, though!!!

It's the exact one that 2 doc's offices use, that I've been to, and it pretty much agrees with the ones at the hospital

IMHO get yourself checked out to see if you have sleep apnea - your sleeping partner may tell you that you stop breathing during the night - otherwise you will never know (cos you're asleep duh) unless you go to a sleep clinic and they wire you up for the night.

Chronic apnea can take YEARS off your life expectancy.

Which, as you must realize, is....

Meaningless.

a. Two doctors' offices (means diddly-squat).

b. The ones at the hospital have not been tested, either.

So then, what are you trying to say?

Haha....no worries....

WTF?

It's IMPOSSIBLE that they would give the same result.....

Why?

Because the results are always changing.

Can't you understand?

When you stand up, your BP changes.

When you sit down, you BP changes.

When you hear a noise, your BP changes.

When you think a thought, your BP changes.

Therefore,.....you should be able to understand what I am saying....

Right?

or

If not, then no worries.

This is a garbage statement because:

It is the setting, and other environmental variables, that affect BP most.

And, there is NO FING WAY that you can validate one of these machines based on one or two observations.

This is so ridiculous to even be funny.

If I need to explain it to you....then...why?

I check my BP daily at home with the Omron,

Every 6 weeks I visit my doctor at the hospital, the machine there gives a result that is basically the same.

Please explain what you find rediculous.

I find it ridiculous that you don't know that BP changes due to environmental conditions...that's all....

If you don't know what I am talking about...then....

That is ridiculous, as well.

The enviromental conditions when I check at my home and when the nurse aid checks at hospital.

What are the differences ?

No...because....my heart bleeds for Jeff.

I, in fact, have always swooned for Beck.

Here is why:

Jeff's humility is only rivaled by Jimi's in your face.

Every time I hear Beck, my BP goes wild.

I have no time to give the likes of you any old course.....

But, just so that do not leave you with NOTHING....then....first read this from the AI...and then do your own research...since you....obviously....

NEED to do more research.

Also, please do not ask STUPID questions if you do not wish to receive obvious replies.

Thank you.

You are absolutely right. BP changes very rapidly according to circumstances. Having said that, there are accepted 'rules' to observe, before taking your blood pressure, for a reliable reading.

For example, relax and be seated on a firm chair with your feet flat on the floor and your arm resting on a table so it's level with your heart. Not to measure right after a meal, consuming alcohol, or after a heavy workout. You should make sure you're resting and not feeling anxious or stressed.

Ensure you purchase a reliable BP meter that is clinically validated. By regularly monitoring your BP I think you can avoid sudden unpleasant surprises IMHO.

Speak to a medical professional, he/she will explain things to you very much better than what I have written here.

Temperature:

My house is 24 degrees, hospital feels about the same

Altitude:

House elavation is 12.4m Hospital elavation is 7.1m according to google earth.

Noise:

My house and hospital would be equal in regards to noise.... my house possibly slightly less.

Air Pollution:

I have not measure inside my house and I do not know the reading for the hospital.

Stressful Enviroments: I find both my house and the hospital to be equally calm enviroments.

Yes both my home and hospital Iam seated in a firm chair, feet flat on floor and arm at heart height.

All readings are taken on an empty stomach and before any caffeine or alcohol is consumed.

I do not partake in heavy workouts.

My readings at home are basically the same as at hospital.... and yet GG reckons Iam posting bullsh!t.
