Police in Phitsanulok have uncovered a counterfeit operation selling fake L’Oréal hair dye and related products, seizing items from a residence.

On December 7, Pol. Lt. Col. Natthawut Pomngern, a special officer with the Economic Crime Suppression Division (ECSD), along with other officers and representatives from the affected company, conducted a raid on a house in Moo 8, Hua Ro Subdistrict, Mueang Phitsanulok District. The raid resulted in the arrest of a 39-year-old woman, identified only as “Ms. A”, and the seizure of counterfeit products bearing the L’Oréal trademark.

The operation stemmed from a complaint filed by L’Oréal representatives, who reported the unauthorised sale of fake hair products, including those used for dyeing, perming, and straightening, on social media. The counterfeit products had not undergone L’Oréal’s standard quality checks and posed potential risks to consumers.

Following an investigation, police identified the suspect’s residence as a storage and distribution point for the counterfeit goods. With sufficient evidence, officers obtained a search warrant from the Central Intellectual Property and International Trade Court and carried out the raid, uncovering the fake products hidden on the property.

During questioning, the suspect admitted to all charges. Authorities charged her with “possessing goods for sale that bear counterfeit trademarks registered in the Kingdom.” She has been handed over to the Economic Crime Suppression Division for further legal proceedings.

Authorities warn the public to be cautious when purchasing products online, especially those claiming to be from reputable brands, to avoid counterfeit goods that may pose safety risks.
