I had similar symptoms.  I ignored it.  My daughter [nurse] found out.  Rushed me to the ER.  Blood clot.  That is why I am able to reply today.  My age now 79.  Do not ignore it.

The sort of drunk feeling may be exacerbated  by the clonazepam which is also probably doing the least for your pain....and is habit-forming.    Sounds like it was prescribed only if needed for sleep; if so you might try skipping it.

Otherwise since the meds seem to be helping I'd stick with it for now.

Now that doctor has confirmed compressed nerve in the cervical pine, I'd also buy cervical traction device online as mentioned in my prior post and use 2-3 times a day.

 Thanks Sheryl

While the hospital doctor was examining my left arm , he noticed an area of red spots , but never commented after seeing them. A day after my visit to the hospital , those red spots started to cover more area on my left arm , so I decided to visit the local clinic and show those red spots to the doctor. The doctor immediately said that the spots were due to a viral infection , and prescribed a drug called  '' Aciclovir '' 800mg , along with some topical ointment called '' Mupirocin ''.

While talking to the local clinic doctor about my red spots , the doctor mentioned that these type of red spots ( which I think is '' shingles  '' ) may produce a type of nerve pain symptom , that is similar to the trapped nerve pain the hospital doctor diagnosed .

So after hearing what the local clinic doctor said about the possibility of my red spots ( viral infection ) producing similar nerve pain symptoms , Vs the symptoms the hospital doctor diagnosed ( Trapped nerve ) , I'm now wondering which medical condition , Red spot area  ( viral infection ) Vs ( neck trapped nerve pain ) , is the actual cause and culprit of the pain

Below is from the internet .....

[ However, you can have shingles that do not produce a rash and merely present as pain. The pain is very like the pain you would experience from nerve damage. You can have numbness, tingling, and burning from the shingles, and this may lead some to believe that the pain is from a pinched nerve ]

Could it have been that I was suffering from '' shingles '' before I went to see the hospital doctor , and that condition was producing the nerve type pain , and not the neck problem.

I'm a bit confused.🙄

Thanks.

It is possible, yes

From your films you do have degenerative changes in the cervical  spine but so do many older  people so possible it is not the cause of the recent pain. Or, the pain could be due to both.

Personally I would continue both treatments prescribed. The meds the ortho doctor gave you will help the nerve pain of shingles as well.

Thanks,  if the actual pain is being caused by shingles and not the spine , that should mean once the shingles has cleared up , and I can can stop the shingles drugs , then the pain should stop ?

If the pain is purely from the shingles then yes, it may resolve once the shingles resolves. Though in some cases shingles leads to chronic nerve pain.  (The antiviral medicstion just prescribed will reduce that risk).

Hello Bill, I'm 50 and i had a c4-c5 surgery. My pain was much more than yours. Before surgery I had many medicines especially 4 months of 4mg cortisone.

After the surgery I had many cases of muscles pain in all my back, witch's stroke too.

The best thing that worked for me to avoid medicines was simple relax and stretching exercises

Wish you the best!

The more I think about it , I'm getting even more convinced that the pain I am currently suffering from is because I have shingles ( herpes zoster ) and the more I read about shingles , the more I'm starting to become worried and stressed out , especially what the future may hold.

No point in stressing, it will only make matters worse.

Most people recover fully from shingles, and if you started the antiviral medication within 72 hours of the full rash appearing, that improves your odds.

It is difficult to diagnose shingles before the full rash appears and indeed, pain that precedes the rash is often misdiagnosed, since it is also nerve pain. In fact when I had shingles about 10 years ago, I had what  was thought to be pain from a back problem for about a week before hand. Only when the characteristic rash appeared was it apparent what was going on.
