Hi, my visa extension expire on 17 December and I have no time to prepare the documents for extending my Non O.

Should I use an agency to do a border run or going by myself?

If really safer to use agency, any good agency to advise? I'm living in Rayong so I guess that would be an agency in Pattaya.

I guess I can go there and park my car at their agency. I'm waiting 10 am to call them. I will ask how much they charge for the visa extension too, maybe safer to pass by them, let see. Thanks for the link, pattaya accounting asked 4000 + 1000 or more to pay myself once there. Here only 3700 all included. By myself with fuel it would come near the same and a lot more stressful

Here is thread with trip report.

I used to use this agent, and their service is great, but the price of 3,700Bt?? What was it before the Chinese virus? Certainly a lot less than that.

That would be waste of time.

Agents will only do hand holding for extension based on marriage.

Agents money is made from extensions based on retirement.

Retirement = easy.  Based on Marriage to a Thai, only a few will handle it all - and tends to be expensive.

In another thread, it was claimed these guys can do it:

Yeah but during covid you could only get 30 or 45 days. Now its 60 days visa exempt which is why it costs more.

There is a problem, they say I can't go by land because I have a new passport and the embassy stopped giving letter to transfert the visa. I have to go by air.

You can have stamps and info transfered without "letter" from embassy.

Some embassies stopped that some time ago. AU, USA, UK examples.

Which company told you that you need exit via air

I found this answer on a thread about flight price, so is it actually risky to travel by air if I have a long history of stay in Thailand?

Since you say fly and come back (no mention of a visa application) i assume you are either (i) holding an unexpired multiple entry visa; or (ii) hoping to receive a visa exemption on your return.

If you have a multiple entry visa, a same day return from Bangkok to Kuala Lumpur (around US$200 on Air Asia) is one option. From Chiang Mai, leaving Saturday to Hanoi and returning Sunday can be cheap (under US$200) if you are eligible for visa exempt entry to Vietnam.

If expecting a visa exempt entry, be careful! Depending on your immigration history, you risk a denied entry, and a border bounce by land could be more prudent. That does not necessarily mean a lot of overland travel. For instance, you could fly to Penang, take a taxi to Hat Yai airport, crossing back to Thailand by land, and fly onward domestically to your final destination."

You could fly to Vientiane, cross the border back into Thailand at the friendship bridge, and then fly back from Udon Thani to BKK.  That's an easy safe way to do it.

well one agency have service to move stamp for 1000 bahts and the trip is 4000, still better than get stuck outside of Thailand. I have my family and my job, would be a disaster for me.

With my suggestion you will leave by air and re-enter by land.  That won't be a problem.

Or just get those stamps transferred at immigration.  As someone else mentioned, you don't need an embassy letter to do that.

so I would not even need to pay 1000 bahts, can just do it myself.

You attend immigration with both passports.

There is no cost.

Which immigration office

BTW: Doesn't your permission of stay end Dec 17.

Talk about leave it till last minute

at the last minute because I wanted to try to get an extension but my wife was available yesterday only, unfortunately I lost my book bank and so I need to make a new one in Ratchaburi. Also I think that as you mentioned it would have never worked with only 5 days before expiration. I plan to try again  in Ratchaburi in one month, so on month before my visa exempt end. Hard part is to find a witness, it has to be a close neighbor.

I will use the agency as leaving work would cost me around the same.

You mentioned above TVS.

What visa wise are they going to provide?

just border run and move the visa stamp to the new passport. Sorry that wasn't clear, my stress level went through the roof, I'm in panic mode.

Good option.

Keep in mind that will give you 60 day stamp.

If timing for the Non O application is again an issue you could obtain 60 day extension to visit wife.

Issue for you is for that extension wife needs to be with you at immigration.

Thank you very much for your patience, I don't sleep much as I'm stressed with work, money, family and visa is one big thing so I may show some lack of comprehension.

Indeed my wife is working in Pha ngan but I can beg for her to give me one day. She is working for some extremely rich Israelis there, as a nanny, she is making near 100 000 a month so now her time is precious...
