The Department of Special Investigation (DSI), on December 18, in collaboration with the Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI), conducted a raid on four large warehouses in Ban Khlong Suan Subdistrict, Phra Samut Chedi District, Samut Prakan Province. The operation uncovered 37,593 units of uncertified products, including lithium-ion batteries, power tools, power adapters, and high-pressure water sprayers, with an estimated total value of 61,779,200 baht.

The raid followed a government directive aimed at intensifying enforcement of laws and regulations to prevent the distribution of substandard imported products. These measures seek to protect consumers from potentially hazardous goods while addressing widespread online sales of uncertified items.

The investigation, initiated under case number 138/2567, revealed that the seized batteries and power tools, commonly used with drills and chainsaws, lacked the necessary Thai Industrial Standards (TIS) certification. Search warrants from the Phra Pradaeng Provincial Court enabled authorities to seize the uncertified goods, along with computers and relevant documents, for further legal examination.

The operation was led by Police Lieutenant Colonel Yutthana Praedam, Director-General of the DSI, who assigned Police Lieutenant Colonel Anurak Rojanaranakit, Director of the Consumer Protection Division, and Second Lieutenant Phachaphon Suphanichworaphat, Director of Consumer Protection Division 1, to oversee the investigation.

The confiscated goods are subject to legal proceedings under the Industrial Product Standards Act of 1968, the Customs Act of 2017, and other related laws.

Lieutenant Colonel Yutthana emphasized that combating the illegal import and distribution of substandard products is a key priority for the DSI. The initiative aligns with government and Ministry of Justice policies to safeguard consumers, promote strong inter-agency collaboration, and ensure sustainable governance under the principles of transparency and accountability.
