A cleaner was left in shock after discovering the body of a newborn baby girl inside a tightly tied plastic bag in a restroom trash can. Police and rescue teams confirmed that the baby had already passed away.

The tragic discovery was reported by Ms. Snuo Riem, a 19-year-old Cambodian cleaner at a market in Pluak Daeng District, Rayong Province. According to Ms. Riem, she originally found the bag on the afternoon of December 19 but initially dismissed it as ordinary trash. It wasn’t until she returned to clean the restroom the following morning, December 20, that she noticed the contents and realised it was the body of a newborn.

Police officers from Pluak Daeng Police Station, led by Police Captain Santi Angsusings, and forensic investigators arrived at the scene after receiving the report. Inside restroom number 3, they found a double-layered plastic bag, an outer white bag and an inner red bag, containing the lifeless body of a baby girl.

Initial forensic examinations revealed that the baby weighed 3 kilograms and still had her umbilical cord attached. There were no visible injuries on the body, and it is believed that the baby had been dead for approximately one day before being discovered.

Ms. Rithy, a 37-year-old Cambodian cleaner who also works at the market, stated that she noticed the bag in the trash can around 15.00 the previous day but did not investigate further, as discarded bags were a common sight in the area. It wasn’t until the following morning that they realised the bag contained the body of the baby.

Police are now reviewing CCTV footage to identify the individual who abandoned the baby’s body in the restroom.
