Elderly Man Dies After Tripping into Ditch in Ubon Ratchathani

Authorities responded to a distress call from the 191 Emergency Centre regarding a fatal incident near the Ubon Ratchathani Teachers’ Savings Cooperative, close to the Non Hong Thong Intersection.

 

Upon arrival, rescue personnel discovered the lifeless body of a man, approximately 70 years old, lying down a concrete slope with his face submerged in the water of a ditch below.

 

Initial reports suggest the man was walking along the road above the ditch when he tripped and fell. The impact of the fall is believed to have knocked him unconscious, leaving his body resting on the concrete slope with only his face in the water. 

 

Tragically, no witnesses were present at the time of the incident to assist the victim or pull him to safety, as the water in the ditch was very shallow, 

 

Rescue workers recovered the body and transported it to the Sappasitthiprasong Hospital’s Forensic Institute for an autopsy, following the orders of the investigating officer.

 

The police are continuing to investigate the precise cause of the incident and will review CCTV footage from the area to gather additional evidence.
