Trump’s Transition Team Eyes Swift WHO Exit, Sparking Global Health Concerns

In March of 2017, the Associated Press reported that the World Health Organization spent more for the travel of 7,000 staffers than it did for countering malaria, tuberculosis, fighting AIDS and hepatitis, and on tackling mental health and substance abuse. The agency is simultaneously demanding its budget be increased as it doesn’t seem to have enough money to fulfill its healthcare-providing role.

Speaking for myself, a person that isn't wealthy, I would rather tear down these types of organizations and start building organizations that represent society as a whole.  For example, a USA democratic party that truly represents the normal American would garner my interest.

Trump to me is the best thing that has happened in decades and I think he can be a dipshttt.  We might be able to rid our society of this woke insaneness and begin creating a better society.  Could care less if liberals or conservatives take the lead.

What a shame.....doing so well up to that point......

Over my head. Seriously explain what point you are making and I'm not being sarcastic.

WHO has always been a political leftie organization, best not to finance your enemies.

I'd suggest they leave NATO and the UN as well, as they're all a waste of money.

........ and forget Climate Change .........

Oh, interesting. You think wokeness wasn't insane in recent years?  I get there is a place for being woke in society but the levels it reached were insane IMO.

It is so passe........throw in woke and/or wokeness, nearly always irrelevant to any discussion, and many seem to think that should do it, job done.

I think you were never bothered by the wokeness?

For some, like myself, it was a terrible experience and I felt it greatly restricted freedom of thought.  It is all perspective and from yours it is something that is easily disregarded.  I can respect your opinion but I feel moving past the wokeness that became increasingly aggressive and hateful is a mistake.

BTW, I never thought you were fanatically woke but many were on this forum.

Jha emphasized the importance of the WHO in fostering global cooperation during health emergencies, including vaccine development and distribution.

No doubt including the covid rushed vaccines based on "new" science. Let them carry on with such without the US. No reason for the US to be the largest contributor to that sort of thing that I fundamentally disagree with.

No....I would never describe myself as fanatical regarding anything in particular.

I just find the goto phrase annoying ....e.g.

Only half? Seemed more like 100% of the west to me. In NZ they are still trying to make us take boosters for a vaccine that IMO didn't work and is a huge con.

It is what got Trump elected and therefore I get your dislike 🙂  I think I use the term in the wrong context quite often.  For me the word is more attached to a culture and not a definition.

Have you been living in a cave for the past decade? If you can't see the atrocities of wokeness you need to look harder. They are all about us.

Just one example- causing massive amounts of pollution flying thousands of people to exotic locations to talk about reducing pollution.

They will probably also throw out any USA strategies for dealing with future pandemics and any funding for implementation when a new pandemic occurs.  Why?  Because they are ideologues and sycophants in the service of an uneducated, uncaring and uninterested leader.

Old normal:  Pandemics are rare.

New normal:  Pandemics are commonplace.

List of epidemics and pandemics

Seems to me that naturally occuring pandemics are a rarity.  But if Covid-19 was man made and accidentally released from a lab then that doesn't count as naturally occuring.  I'd say that anyone fretting about the next naturally occuring pandemic has swallowed too much fear porn.

Firstly your source has this as its mission.

"FEE’s mission is to inspire, educate, and connect future leaders with the economic, ethical, and legal principles of a free society.

These principles include: individual liberty, free-market economics, entrepreneurship, private property, high moral character, and limited government."

Hardly objective is it

Secondly this is not true.

"In March of 2017, the Associated Press reported that the World Health Organization spent more for the travel of 7,000 staffers than it did for countering malaria, tuberculosis, fighting AIDS and hepatitis, and on tackling mental health and substance abuse."

The header of the link to which your source refers says

"Health agency spends more on travel than AIDS", the text says.

"According to internal documents obtained by The Associated Press, the United Nations health agency routinely has spent about $200 million a year on travel expenses, more than what it doles out to fight some of the biggest problems in public health, including AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria combined.".

I agree the travel expenses are ridiculously high, there is no need to nisinform.

Just one example- trying to give billions of western $ to poor countries without any checks on where it will be going, and no indication of what it should be spent on. Wokeness covering corruption.

Poor financial administration.....what has that got to do with being woke?

Or, even with water tight admin', are you of the opinion that rich countries should never try to help poorer countries......?

Labeling everything you disagree with as "left-wing" or "right-wing" "nutcases" can be reductive and oversimplifying complex issues and really embarrasses ones owns ability to understand more than anything else.

Seems everything is based on "left wing or right wing" these sad days and the idea that organisations should just help people in trouble, without trying to make them take an unproven vaccine is an idea consigned to the bin long ago. Now it's all about politics. IMO.

A lot, unfortunately when woke people get hold of other people's money. You do know that PEOPLE spend money, and it doesn't spend itself, aren't you?

Depends if it's for something they actually need help for something that they can't fix themselves.

IMO poor countries are not poor in fact. There is usually plenty of money but it's stolen by corrupt governments. Let them pay before western money is sent. The other reason they are poor is that they are overpopulated, and their governments do nothing about that, preferring to let them try to get illegally to other countries, while selling their fishing grounds to rich western nations and such like. Nigeria makes loadsacash from oil, but the poor get only pollution and no money.
