You and I can climb Everest anytime. We can't go to Antartica. That's my point.

  • There are no scheduled flights to Antarctica
  • The only flights available for tourists are charter flights, which are only available as part of a package, rather than on a ‘seat only’ basis like booking a regular scheduled flight
  • In spite of the shorter Antarctic flying season (late November- early March) and no regular flight schedule, there’s a surprisingly good range of options available
  • Unlike ship-based cruises which can only explore Antarctica's coastline, flights options can unlock Antarctica's vast interior, including the South Pole
  • Antarctica’s harsh and changeable weather makes flying challenging and susceptible to potential delays. The expediency of flying, therefore, needs to be balanced with this higher risk; learn more about how to get to Antarctica.

You can fly from southern Chile to Antarctica in 2 hours from late November through to early March. Charter flights to the Antarctic Peninsula and South Pole are increasingly popular. If you're looking to avoid the Drake Passage, a flight from Punta Arenas or Puerto Natales is likely to be the best way to reach the White Continent.

I must confess that extensive reading of AN during my expatriate sojourn in Thailand had led me to the conclusion that it was made up of a compact mass  of matter which revolved around Soi 6 in Pattaya...

Complete dribble. You have been conned. 24 hr sun experienced by 10's of thousands of people and now The Final Experiment for all to see has shown flat earthers to be what they are. Grifters and liars with the sad consequence of the extremely gullible buying into it.

The Final Experiment

Sounds like a Netflix series.

I will watch it tomorrow nonetheless and get back to you.

I know you're not ready to go there yet, Hummin, and as I said, I get it. Keep on asking questions, stay honest and open, breaking away from the deception is a slow process (it took several years in my case).

My question is, what make you and everyone else so special, who understand everything we do not understand?

It must make you feel special, and maybe superior to others, or compared to others.

I say this respectfully, but you need to study this more in depth. Start with the Antarctic Treaty. We are not allowed to go.

24 hr sun 3600 time lapse in 25 minutes. There are terabytes of info to come out proving the earth is a globe to those who think it isn't.

This is great. Use the direction key top left to take a look around. There is one constant. The sun is in the sky. Dave Weiss says this is impossible.

You think you have the answers but all you do, is feeding us with pseudo science.

Hard to believe you actually believe in it yourself, and just trolling around to get some attention.

Seriously, I'm curious about what does it mean to you, to be one of the minorities in this world.

You're looking at this the wrong way if you think there is an egotistic element in my posts. It's interesting because you're encouraging me to drop it and let you guys enjoy your echochamber. The fundamental issue, I believe, really is social pressure and group effect.

You are incapable of addressing the incoherences of the heliocentric model and systematically default to the "it's not possible because too many people would have to be in on it" position.

"Pseudoscience" is a BS term which, in essence, refers to anything which challenges the doxa.

I'm well aware of the Antarctic Treaty. Show me where it states that you or I cannot go there. Explain this.

If you're honestly interested in the topic, I can provide you with resources which explain how it is simply impossible to obtain the government-issued permit to visit. Nobody can go.

Each season Antarctica sees approximately 170,000 visitors from mostly English-speaking countries.

For the third time in this thread: touristic routes are confined to outlying enclaves.

The mainland is restricted by government-issued permits which are impossible to obtain.

YOU more than anyone here should be familiar with it and have been the first to watch itI learned about it a couple months back and watched the expected results (for everyone other than FLERF ilk) as soon as it came out.

Please watch the vid below for detailed background about it, how it was arranged and what led up to it.

This is disingenuous. This is the flight path of a sightseeing flight that doesn't land in Antarctica.

It appears you did a bit of googling and (at least partially) copy-pasted whatever result suited what you wanted to say (as evidenced by the change in font and white background in the text, which only happens when copy-pasting from an external source).

If you had had the humility and patience to get acquainted with the facts presented, you would know that the Jesuits were the driving force in establishing heliocentrism. This is what @DD86 meant when he said “Specially the Jesuits part in all this is important”. But you interpreted it as being a claim the Jesuits supported the flat Earth, which demonstrates that you have no idea who the Jesuits are, nor what the political and cultural context was at the time.

I will take this opportunity to make a general comment on the dynamics of this thread: there are two opposing views on this matter and nobody is superior to anybody in this debate. If one doesn’t actually know what they are talking about, one takes a big risk (and risks damaging one’s credibility and relevance) by making assertive comments.

No Googling...Co-Pilot these days. Very observant of you to notice the different font and background, well done.

Yes, I got it wrong thinking the Jesuits were Flat Earthers, sorry, there was too much to read.

As you say, there are two opposing views on this matter. One is right and one is totally wrong. Guess which is which.

I don't care.  You forgot that option!

Yes, well it's funny you say that. Couple years ago was having an animated discussion with a serious flat-earther. Finally I just asked...if you're right and I'm wrong, what difference does it make? Even if Earth is flat and everything we've been taught was wrong and we'd been lied to...it's not going to change anything in my day-to-day activities. Still going to wake up tomorrow with the sun, then eat and do whatever is on my agenda and on and on and on, every day, same as I have been the past 60 years. Nothing is going to change at all. So that option was actually considered,, but decided against it, as most people have an opinion, one way or the other, on the subject regardless whether they care or not.

Antartica (bar small enclave granted to the plebs) inaccessible due to Antarctic Treaty. If you wish to refute, kindly articulate rationally and refrain from posting laughing or confused emojis.

You don't need to go to Antartica to see 24 hr sun.  The sun is up 24hr a day for more than a month in Northern Norway, Sweden, Finland, Russia, Canada, and the US.  Including many cities with commercial flights.  I've seen it in Tromso Norway.

Please explain how a force can be strong enough to stick trillions of gallons of water to a ball, but not enough to flatten a napkin on the surface of said ball.

Density is the answer........ mass per unit volume....that's why a plank of wood (high density) lies on the floor in a breeze but a sheet of polystyrene (low density) can easily fly up into the air in a puff of wind...........but that aside....how does water stay put on a flat earth?.....Is that gravity?

No worries. The post-Reformation era is a very interesting period of history.

It's a cruise itinerary. There are no tourist expeditions on the vast majority of the mainland.

which overcomes gravity or density?

helium balloons don't have wings.

It overcomes gravity.  The bird's wings (or the engine of a plane) generate the power to create lift.  A helium balloon rises because of buoyancy, which is very different from lift.

On the general topic, take a look here:

5 ways we can prove Earth is round, not flat

Astronomers have known that Earth is a globe for thousands of years, and there are tested methods to prove this is the case.

One thing I never understood about the flat earth is what is on the other side?

From what I understand, there's a Starbucks, a McDonalds, and a recently added weed shop. Otherwise, it's prime real estate.

You need a visa to visit, however. The problem is your visa application is forever falling off the Immigration Officer's desk.
