A 55-year-old man named Kritsana has been detained for impersonating a café owner and scamming a group of Chinese tourists in the Maharaj area. The fraud incident involved eight hearing-impaired tourists, who were charged 2,608 baht (US$75) for a meal by Kritsana before he fled.

A fire devastated the home of Yom Boonchure, 59, and Yee Thongmak, 62, in Ban Sanuan, Surin, leaving their possessions, including cash, gold, and silk, worth over 2.5 million baht (US$73,205) destroyed. The blaze occurred on December 21, burning down both their old wooden house and a newer two-story house.

Bangkok Lowers Speed Limit to 60 km/h Amid Safety Push

Bangkok officials, as announced by the Royal Gazette on December 24, have implemented a new speed limit across the city as part of an effort to improve road safety. The speed limit on most roads has been reduced from 80 km/h to 60 km/h, except on 13 major roads where the usual speed limits will remain intact. The roads exempt from this change include Vibhavadi-Rangsit and Bangna Trat, among others.
