If they don't insure you as first driver at age 75, why do you think they still will insure you as second driver?

Think easiest way would be to change insurance company

"I suppose a follow on question if you do that is, will your wife's insurance policy still allow you to drive the vehicle"?

I tried to answer your question, shame you don't comprehend it.

To me it is clear that Roojai doesn't insure drivers over 75 year of age, and that will apply to any driver

I'm not interested in theory or what appears to be right, I'm exclusively interested in fact. If you don't know, just say you don't know.

Then why you start a thread instead of asking Roojai? You think anyone on this forum gonna know the answer?

BTW, why I was removed from the 103rd spot on your ignore list. Please add me again

If you'd bother to read the thread you will see that a couple of people do know and have posted correspondence from Roojai, on this very subject. Plus if you were to read the OP you will note that I have emailed Roojai and am waiting for a reply...bright boy!

BTW, happy to put you back on ignore.

The Roojai website indicates that they only insure drivers 30-70 years old.

Possibly solutions - seek out alternative vehicle insurance companies which will insure drivers 70+ years old, also, as suggested above, change car ownership from self to spouse/family member/friend/etc.,  and list yourself as a secondary driver (no problems, I have been told).

Having only compulsory insurance is not advised, as noted above.  This is Thailand, where the law and law enforcement are "flexible", farang friends who have been involved in accidents have told me (and this has not been my personal experience) that even though an accident is not your fault, because you are a farang/foreigner you are frequently considered at fault, as you are "rich".

Good luck.

Where does it say a maximum of 70 on the website? I can't see any reference to that. Also other comments here, including a reply from Roojai, seem to indicate they will insure drivers upto 75.

What are the requirements to buy car insurance with Roojai?

  • drivers aged 20-70 years old and with a valid driving license (in some cases, a driver's license is required for more than 2 years)
  • no previous history of driving license being revoked
  • no more than 3 insurance claims being at fault in the past 12 months
  • vehicle is registered in Thailand

Roojai do not insure drivers. They are brokers and if they cannot offer insurance to us who are 75+ it would seem obvious that they have already done the searching that you suggest.

In 2023 Roojai purchased FWD General Insurance and rebranded it as Roojai Insurance Public Company Limited. I understand that they now issue all auto policies using this company.

I think you may need to find an independent broker if you want to get quotes from  competing insurers.

Given the accident rate for Thai's,  there insurance should sky rocket, but  from personal experience Thai's  don't do insurance.

It's about time  Vehicle insurance  was made compulsory,  other than the  government insurance

you might find the age range is for new policyholders only existing policyholders might be on a case by case basis only

I have seen in some EV facebook group pages where clearly the insurance company doesn't want to insure someone by increasing the premium from B23K per year to B66K per year

In the Uk there  are specialist insurance brokers that handle cars and drivers that the mainstream insurance compaines wouldn't consider one example is Adrian Flux specialist insurance broker

When I entered my details (inter alia age 77) into Roojai site for an insurance quote I was directed to this site :

https://compare.mrkumka.com/#/?lang=en

This is an insurance agent and was offered 3 very competitive choices including Alliance Ayudhya.

Two had 5k excesses.

Seems Roojai is an agency and also gives referrals to other agents.

Also, in my case @ 77 buying a Toyota and having T-Connect is an unrealised bonus as it aligns with the new legislation as detailed above by @vinny41.
