Steve Bannon Clashes with Elon Musk: "We’re Going to Rip Your Face Off"

Former White House strategist Steve Bannon issued a stark warning to Elon Musk, accusing the tech mogul of undermining American workers by supporting visas for skilled foreign laborers. On Tuesday, during his "War Room" podcast, Bannon lashed out, cautioning Musk and others in the tech industry that they would face fierce opposition from MAGA supporters unless they embraced a stricter "America First" stance on immigration.

“We love converts,” Bannon remarked, referencing Musk’s apparent alignment with some conservative principles. However, he emphasized that converts should "sit in the back and study" before attempting to lead or redefine the movement. “Don’t come up and go to the pulpit in your first week here and start lecturing people about the way things are going to be. If you’re going to do that, we’re going to rip your face off,” Bannon declared, underscoring his frustration with Musk’s recent advocacy.

The tech billionaire has faced backlash from MAGA circles for supporting programs like the H-1B visa, which provides opportunities for skilled foreign workers in sectors like technology. Bannon, a staunch critic of such policies, argued that these visas have displaced American workers and eroded the country’s middle class. He even called for a complete halt to all immigration, stating, “We need a 100% moratorium on all immigration until we get this thing sorted.”

This clash isn’t Musk’s first brush with controversy over immigration. The entrepreneur recently made headlines with a fiery comment on X (formerly Twitter), directing opponents of H-1B visas to “F*** yourself in the face.” Musk’s call for a more “positive” and “beautiful” social media conversation shortly afterward struck many as ironic, given his own confrontational tone.

Bannon, however, wasn’t swayed by Musk’s appeals for civility. Instead, he doubled down, demanding “reparations” from Musk and other tech leaders for what he views as the systemic displacement of American workers. “The visa issue is central to the way they gutted the middle class in this country,” Bannon argued, expressing his belief that tech industry policies have betrayed the very ethos of Trump’s "America First" agenda.

Musk’s stance has also put him at odds with some of Donald Trump’s most loyal supporters. While Trump himself has praised the contributions of foreign workers under H-1B visas, this has led to friction within his base, many of whom see such policies as contrary to his promises to protect U.S. jobs.

As tensions between Bannon and Musk escalate, the debate over immigration, labor, and the future of America’s workforce shows no sign of abating. Whether Musk will adjust his position or continue to stand firm against critics like Bannon remains to be seen.

All this is a deflection from the real question "Why are US schools not educating children properly so there isn't a need to import people that obviously did get educated properly in other countries".

Gee, that almost sounds like a threat.  And how would this fierce opposition from MAGA supporters be carried out?  Maybe Mitt Romney can provide the answer.

Some may recall that the graphic language of the EM quote in the link is quite similar to something a member of the 45th WH quipped about Stevie; maybe he was on to something.

All this is a deflection from the real question "Why are US schools not educating children properly so there isn't a need to import people that obviously did get educated properly in other countries".

Seems to me that most western countries are not educating children properly and relying on people from other countries to make up the shortfall.

While I hesitate to use "educated" in relation to what passes for schooling in the west, I agree with the jist of your post. This is what happens when men are driven away from becoming teachers and women get to brainwash indoctrinate gullible children. IMO.

US Tech wants H1-B visa workers because they're basically indentured servants. Don't like your conditions? Salary? Too bad. Quit and get deported.

Tesla in Texas laid off ~2,600 US employees. In an odd coincidence, that same year they also got ~2,600 HI-B visa workers.

Seems you just hit the nail on the head. Follow the money and it's always about greed.

Steve Bunyan has always been somewhat of a loose cannon.

He gave a very nice talk at the Oxford Union, sometime back.

I enjoyed his presentation.

And most inside the closed doors of the Oxford Union Debating Chamber... listened with due respect.

They held their noses....

But paid due respect, still the same.

Nothing like a good intelligent talk from a respected intellectual.

“We need a 100% moratorium on all immigration until we get this thing sorted.”

Cut off nose to spite face.

I do agree and have for 30 years.  To much emphasis on sports in America.  I also suspect companies like having trapped workers.  I've read it's not easy for an H1-b to change jobs.

Also musk and Melania both violated immigration laws.  Deport them both

Western education is more about social engineering these days. You're more likely to see a poster on the wall from BLM or Pride than a periodic table.

Suspect that he spends the night wherever he falls down drunk.

Look at that nose, I wonder if he dried out in prison.

BTW, the guy is supposedly quite wealthy, and was before he got into politics.

Musk is childish and immature in many ways. Now, he's got a taste of power and like a greedy kid wanting more and more chocolate cake, he's jamming it into his mouth and smearing it on his face. Vivek OTOH appears to have figured out to shut his mouth and disappear until things simmer down for him. Musk keeps yelling and screaming.

Indeed, the politically motivated of any stripe vying for position. Your post makes me think of the way the Labour party turned on itself under Corbyn.

He will learn that there can be only one.

I don’t think the UK’s Labour Party or indeed Corbyn are the subject of the thread, I’ll check.

The problem is obviously that Musk can get away with that. He can buy anything and everybody. He can buy any election.

I felt that you point was one that could be applied to all politicians, and having stated that I felt obliged to support that position with another example. Perhaps it was your use of the term 'rats' that made me think of this one. HTH.
