Family Injured After Blanket Gets Caught in Motorbike Wheel

A family of three was injured in a motorbike incident early on the morning of January 2, in Chonburi Province after a blanket wrapped around their child became entangled in the vehicle’s rear wheel.

 

At 00:05 the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Centre in Pattaya received a report of a motorbike accident on the road near Pattaya Country Club, Moo 4, Khao Mai Kaew Subdistrict, Bang Lamung District. Rescue workers rushed to the scene to assist.

 

At the site, a blue Honda Wave 125 motorbike (registration number from Chonburi) was found overturned at the side of the road with minor damage. The driver, Mr Sarawut, 28, suffered minor abrasions, while his wife, Ms Orasa, 23, sustained injuries to her left ankle and abrasions on her body. Their four-year-old daughter was more seriously injured, with a fractured left leg and multiple abrasions.

 

Rescue workers provided immediate first aid before transporting the injured to a nearby hospital.

 

Mr Sarawut explained that he and his wife were riding their motorbike home, with their daughter seated between them. Due to the colder weather, they had wrapped their daughter in a blanket for warmth. Unfortunately, the blanket became entangled in the motorbike’s rear wheel, causing the vehicle to crash.

 

Authorities have urged motorcyclists to avoid using loose or long fabrics while riding, as these can easily get caught in wheels or chains.

I am sure they took a lot more risks, such as speeding, that we don't know about.

Result. They are now all injured.

Yeah, they should be taking their car. Or just order their driver.

Some people in the forum not realise that sometimes there is a life situation when you have to move with all family and all that you have in possession is an old Honda Wave. The blanket was a mistake, but who from us never made some dangerous mistakes?

Yes must have been 27 degrees, too cold to be outside.

Proper drivers training, a few minutes reading and understanding the operators manual for the motorcycle, there too the Thai Road traffic act, and just maybe stupid things like this wouldn't happen. Who am I kidding, TIT.
