My FIL was park ranger in a national park in Chang Dao.

Occasionally they got permission to cut an old Teak or rosewood as long as the timber never left the village. My house has Teak frame, good as it is an earthquake zone.

Living room furniture is rosewood.

Illegal logging made the Generals millions back in the day. Mostly teak but other trees too.
