New tablet for 2k THB. Fake specifications?
About 5 years ago I bought one of these cheapie tablets in USA and was definitely satisfied with it. The wifi was on the slow side but what do you expect for 5 years ago? I strongly recommend you buy from Lazada instead of Shopee. They have the 2100b versions you refer to, or you can toss in another 1200b and get a Samsung Galaxy plus you get it shipped from within Thailand, and if something goes wrong you get decent customer service. Expect shipped from China and a long wait from Shopee. -

Young Woman Attempts Suicide with Insecticide, Saved by Brother's Quick Action
Picture from responders. A 24-year-old woman was rescued just in time after attempting to take her own life by consuming insecticide and mothballs in Pattaya early on January 9. Emergency responders from the Sawang Boriboon Rescue Centre were alerted to the incident at 00:35. The woman, identified only as Miss Biu was found in a distressed state at Khao Phra Tamnak, Pattaya, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi. She was crying inconsolably and clutching her stomach in pain after consuming some insecticide along with mothballs. At the scene, rescuers discovered a bottle of water, a packet of mothballs, and the bottle of insecticide, which were collected as evidence. Rescue personnel provided immediate first aid before rushing her to a nearby hospital for urgent treatment, as it was unclear how much of the insecticide she had drank. Her brother and mother stayed close by, offering comfort and support Miss Biu's mother, identified as Miss Bee, recounted the harrowing moments leading up to the rescue. She explained that she and her son had grown concerned after being unable to reach her daughter. The brother persisted in calling until she finally answered, crying uncontrollably. When pressed for her location, she revealed her whereabouts, prompting her family to search for her immediately. Upon finding her sitting alone in the dark with the bottle of insecticide in hand, the brother quickly intervened, snatching the bottle away before contacting emergency services. The mother revealed that this was not the first time her daughter had attempted to harm herself. In a previous incident, Miss Biu had also tried to take her life but was saved in time. The family expressed relief that her brother's timely actions prevented a tragic outcome again this time. Authorities have urged families to remain vigilant and seek mental health support for loved ones who may be struggling with emotional or psychological difficulties. -- 2025-01-10 -

Hit-and-Run Incident Leaves One Dead, One Injured; Later Drugs Found in Abandoned Vehicle
Picture from responders.. A fatal hit-and-run collision occurred early on 9 January, leaving one dead and another injured after an SUV collided with a motorcycle-sidecar carrying a couple delivering grass for cattle. The incident took place near a PTT petrol station in Ban Kham Pa Lai, Kham Pa Lai Subdistrict, Mueang District, Mukdahan Province. CCTV footage from nearby shops captured the SUV striking the motorcycle and dragging it for over 50 metres. The victim, identified as Ms. Supan 64, from Pa Tio District, Yasothon Province, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her husband, Mr. Patcharapol 65, sustained injuries and was rushed to the hospital by emergency responders. At the scene, police found debris from the SUV, including a broken left headlight, a fuel cap, and a fog light. Witnesses reported hearing a loud crash and saw the SUV, described as a six-seater family vehicle, speeding away towards Mukdahan City on Chayangkul Road. Approximately an hour later, a tip-off from a resident led police to an abandoned SUV matching the description in Ban Don Muay, Bang Sai Yai Subdistrict. The vehicle, a navy-blue Toyota Yaris Cross registered in Chachoengsao Province, showed significant damage to its front and sides. Inside the vehicle, police discovered documents belonging to the owner, a mobile phone, a shoulder bag, and drug paraphernalia. A small quantity of what appeared to be crystal methamphetamine was also found. However, the driver was not present at the scene. Police have collected evidence from the vehicle and are conducting a thorough investigation to track down the driver and hold them accountable for the hit-and-run, as well as potential drug charges. -- 2025-01-10 -

Revenue Department boss calls on tax residents in Thailand to file 2024 returns by March 31
It might be semantic but is doesn't seem right that income is assessable and then immediately made exempt , it surely is exempt income from the outset, although there's little point dwelling on this. It might be sensible to expand that list to include assessable income that is exempt under the terms of a DTA also, can anyone see a reason why not?
